  1. :joy::joy::joy::joy:

  2. Really??ffs do you research..

  3. Does he research what?

  4. No need, I can walk 10 steps into the garage and sling my leg over mine.

You stick with your research Dibble.

  5. Is that the original tank? A bit surprised they didn't come with an alloy tank really.

  6. I can only compare a Gen 1 S1000RR and a 1198S as I've owned both (swapped the BMW for the Ducati). Both stupid fast for the road, but totally different animals. The S100RR (as you know) is all about top end and it's quite something when it's screaing at 14k. On the 1198S it all starts to happen at much lower revs. I can still remember the first time I rode the Ducati - pulled onto the lane outside the house, opened the throttle (I thought) gently and it was like WTF!!! (I've since discovered that I have a QA throttle fitted by the previous owner, which probably amplified the effect...). It's addictive though.

Whether an extra 10 or so BHP is worth another several thousand £ is something only you can decide. FWIW I also have an 851 SP3 which is definitely less powerful but much nicer in many respects to ride on the road.

  7. Obviously a bit slow on the take up...and secondly get your facts correct though in this thread it seems ok to be incorrect with anything near fact..
You said ride one then get back to you... as if you’re the only one that has owned or ridden a 1098r powered bike...
So I said do your research ..

perhaps it might help taking your blinkers off

  8. I think the 1198SP had an ally tank? But it also had a highly questionable paint job...

Edit - @Robarano beat me !to it

  9. I'm out then, all that cuddling near naked sweaty blokes, and making them submit ain't for me .

  10. So you've done "research"?

What do you want to tell me of other people's opinions, about the 1098R that you've read then? I'm sorry that I can only give you my 1st hand opinion of owning and riding one, not quite as good as "research" I'm afraid.

I always take my blinkers off when riding the 1098R, I find it a bit of a handful if I leave them on and they do make my Arai awfully tight. How do you find reading magazines and the internet with them on?

  11. The tanks are a slightly different shape. However the original may have been slightly swiloen (common problem). I'm not aware it was as it went on and off easily.

  12. Tank is one of my concerns. Around £2k for an alloy one plus paint? Did the Tricolor 1098 have an alloy tank.

  13. He has rode a bike with such an engine.

  14. Nope .. still missing the point... which surprises me with you..
Leave it with you stuck in 2008

  15. Nope, just a funny paint scheme to make it look retro. The gold stripe is supposed to represent the old clear fuel sight glass on classic bikes.

  16. Tank on my one is absolutely fine, loads of room between the bracket and the tank. :upyeah::upyeah:

  17. Apart from the LC, it's the oldest bike I own. I'm very modern.
