There was a lad on here recently with a white 848 which he said he'd been to the dealers as it was making exactly the same noise as mine. said they slacked the belts off and it reduced the noise but was still there..... time will tell
Heard a Few 848s have had catastrophic, but...tend to have been tuned a little, obviously within the riles, in the trioptions Still reckon all that torque must have an input. I like the idea put forward for the multi issues: high torque plus lazy low rev riding equals problems
pice of mind for me so...lol there are a lot of vaiables to consider too, has the bike been looked after, was it been flogged stoopid etc.. i gues i will find out
Kind of cheeses me off the fact that I've stayed on top of servicing, belts, clearances for this to go anyway. Grrrr
My 1098 suffered main bearing failure at 6.500 miles. I ended up putting a doner engine in, which I had blueprinted and HC pistons dropped in. Was a stonking bike and must admit I do regret selling it.
When you say main bearing do you mean the rollers on the crankshaft or the shell bearings on the main journal?
Shell bearings I believe. Was told by JHP it was terminal and would need a rebuild. Got real lucky with doner engine. Even after shipping and import duty it still came in at half the cost of the quoted rebuild.
After having just shelled (see what I did there) out for an engine rebuild on my 1098R, I can well believe it! Do you have to register donor engine number against frame number??
Not sure to be honest. I didn't bother as I took the bike straight to the track. (would imagine the v5 would need to be updated if using on road)
Fair do's. I thought about putting another engine in mine when it shat itself. Its just that I wondered what the score was regarding mis matching numbers (frame/engine) if ever I sell it.
