1100 Evo Sp Added To The Stable

  1. It's hard working on something and really pouring your heart/soul/wallet into if you think you are going to sell anyway. Sounds like it will be special once finished. I'm sure its been educational if nothing else.

  2. Nichols flywheel and 14T front sprocket - my 1000SS hoikes the front at less than 1/3 throttle pull, no clutch just throttle.

  3. Yep - I have really enjoyed building it- so much so that I want to do it again....hence the cheaper ended hyper - id pull it apart right the way down to the crank cases, get them xylan coated and probably do the electrical thing again with the motogadget stuff...

  4. I have a 14t sprocket here ready to fit. I'd read about the flywheel but as mine is the evo sp I'd also read it doesn't make a huge difference as it already has a lighter flywheel than the rest of the hyper family. Will fit the sprocket 1st and see how it goes.

  5. I'm on my second hyper 1100 now , similar mods to yours , mine has a power commander also , first bike had a 14 tooth present one has standard 15 t .
Both of mine wheelie like nutters , 1st and 2nd there nuts 3rd and a slip of the clutch it will come up in 4th , sounds like there's something wrong with yours , has it had the ecu swap or power commander hiding under the seat , has someone got the cam belt timing wrong . There not that fast top end bout 125mph I've seen, but through the box and the low down punch there mad , you need to get it looked at and I don't think it's just the sprocket .

  6. UPDATE...
After spending a few more miles in the saddle maybe the Hyper isn't as underpowered as I thought at first. I think the main issue I'm finding is that it has to be ridden very differently (more aggressively) than the 1199. On the Panigale you have to be a lot smoother as being too hamfisted will see you being launched into next week either being highsided or straight over the back as the clocks smash you in the face.
I've found the hyper to be a lot more forgiving and rolling on the the throttle no matter how quick just sees you make quick progress but also hit the red line very quickly before any hooligan antics arise. I've found the front wheel will lift in 1st and 2nd off the throttle but you need to snap it quickly to provoke it. You really can tell the difference in engine characteristics between the early air cooled engine and the latest Superquadro engine. Coming from the 1199 I'm finding the bike a lot more forgiving and I'm really enjoying the feeling that I'm pushing the bike and making it move around a bit with out being way into jail time speeds.
The 14t sprocket has arrived and the velocity stacks should be here soon too so after that I'll get it set up properly and then maybe be able to make a bit more use of 6th gear as at the moment it seems quite redundant. Apart from that I may get a 1/4 turn throttle as the standard one seems quite long.
All in though I'm still really happy with the choice to get one.

  7. Brought mine completely standard. Although I enjoyed it I knew it needed a bit more go. Current mods are SC-project exhaust, Mivv headers, MWR filter, re-mapped ecu and 14T FS. 95BHP - 75ftlb torque +500RPM... Now it pulls really hard!

  8. Mind me asking how these compare to the newer 821 with 110hp/65ftlbs?

  9. Not ridden an 821 myself but someone on here.... I think mechanico lee has ridden an 821, 1100 and dorso 750 all in one day and says/sid that the 821 was akin to the dorso 750...although i might be wrong there....

  10. Areet comfy , no I haven't riden the 821 as of yet (anyone in the North west with a 821 want to try a 1100 sp hint hint hehe )
Did have a go on a 750 Dorsoduro factory a bit back and was disappointed .... riden nice enough just lacked punch which the 1100 has plenty of , I see your on about getting another hyper comfy , if you can pay a bit more and get the sp , it's just the suspension ... that marrzocci is just so plush , and a few other mods the sp has just makes it that much better .
Winters on its way now but if you ever come up this way take mine out for a few hours no worrys larr

  11. Ahhhh... Must have been someone else.... Im sure i read someone had a go on all 3....i had an 1100s before the evo and always remember that being very smooth.... It always felt the harder you rode it the easier it became....

Getting another one hinges on the ktm... Its almost done. Id like to ride it for a little while just to see the fruits of my labour but then.... Ive no idea how much it would be worth as its gone way beyond "just a 525" or break it up and sell it.... But if it were to go then i am thinking evo sp....
