1198 luggage

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by fujack, Feb 15, 2013.

  1. I have a irrational fear that if I use my Kreiga tail pack on the 1098, the heat will melt the straps. Judging by the number of riders who do, I must be in the minority......again

  2. I'm gonna make some arms that fix to the foot rest mounting points

  3. the kriega straps fit under the rear pillion seat/cover, they dont go under the bike at all

i normally take my painted cover off and put my seat pad on when im using the kriega

  4. They don't list a rack but I can speak the the manufactures tomorrow and see if they have/get them?

  5. That's great thanks

  6. Sorry, a bit late to this thread but been away in Cornwall for a few days using vaious combinations of Kriega US-10 and US-20 tailpacks. They've proven to be 100% waterproof, have useful stowage pockets and, as other have pointed out, don't leave any surplus mounting brackets.

When you stop for a coffee/pee, they're easily removed with 4 clips. Of course conversely, they're quickly removed by thieving scum if you don't keep an eye out whist filling up.

I used a protective grippy mat on my pillion pad just in case but to be honest they just simply didn't touch my bodywork at all.

But if you do stack a US-20 and US-10 combo, it does require a alternate leg-over technique. So to speak.

First pic below is a US-10, second is a US-20

  7. I don't think they would be big enough to take a week at the tt including tent and sleeping bags etc

  8. You're probably right for a camping trip - just 30 litres and any more is probably too much weight on the rear pillion pad !

  9. Reckon ventura the way to go if ou need a fair bit of kit. I have the arms but not the rack and expect to be using for any trips this year, with an old multistrada tank bag for my everyday suff

  10. Do the arms look easy to copy ?

  11. Erm..yeah just 2 bars really, like the sides of a top box rack
