Thats if they can fit me in and whether i can hooky a day off etc. HM are literally 15mins away. Once MR contact me back, i'll see. Until then HM is an option. In an ideal world I would drop it in saturday morning and pick it up later that day. But a saturday isn't going to happen. Now if CJS could do that great, 3hrs to Bristol isn't too bad as long as its dry. MR aint either. So I have to weasel a day off. Plus one that coincides with either MR or CJS. I am not very good at organising stuff. Thats why I am married.
Pete at pro twins recommended HM, have to say they done a great job, I think it was £200 for a custom map and they also set up my quickshifter properly!
Bootsam, did you get it set up? Who did you go with? I'm in Oxted, I suspect you're not far away. I want to get a tune to see if much can be done about a very lumpy and jerky 4k pull.
Well, i mailed MR. No answer. I phoned and chatted to them and now its gone radio silent again as I wait for a response for a 'when'. They may be busy at the NW or other. I might pop round HM tomorrow (Sat) for a chat with Dave there once ive done my chores etc. I'll let you know @Bigkatoomer . Oxted eh. I am in Caterham.
@Nelson I have a rich tickover/pullaway since i removed my EXV and thats my main target. But i will see whats on offer. I had planned on sourcing some headers before a full fat remap. But with other bills redirecting my funds (damn campervan) and a set of 108mm brembos needed for 916, the headers have been demoted. Plus I am off to France for a week with the lads in June. So cashflow is tight. But if they can do a full fat map then I would likely just opt for that. I like HM. I bought my ohlins forks and shock for the 916 from them and they were adjusted and setup from me straight out the box. Plus they setup my old SMR510 and that went like a crazy man on fire. And Suzuki GP team is next door and although last time I was there it looked deserted, with 2015 coming a peak through their window might reveal something...
RE: Getting my 1198 dyno'd. Does anyone agree or disagree with the below statement? "As suspected the 1198 has a closed loop system which does not allow us to change the fuelling down low up to a certain throttle position and rpm. Power Commander did make an O2 controller to get around this problem but it has been discontinued. I know that the full race ecu allows us to get around this problem with a PCV fitted, but I do not think the ecu that you have will allow this to work." My ECU has been tweaked by @chrisw its the full DP racing ECU now I believe.
If I've re flashed it then you can take the Lambdas off and manually adjust the fuel trim and also the whole fuel map.
Thanks for your advice Chris. They need a PC to map. They wont map to the ECU like CJS. I am now leaning towards CJS but its freakin miles away. I have limited holiday left and I have no idea about timescales etc. Nor CJS availability to do the work. Especially a pain since i was nr Weston for 1 wk hols recently with SWMBO but alas i was in the car. Sods bloody law but I knew she wouldnt countenance me taking the bike too as it wouldve meant me fucking off on the bike all hols whilst she wandered around alone all the boring shit she dragged me to anyway. One has to sacrifice to keep SWMBO happy. Getting to CJS early shouldnt be an issue I guess for him to do it, but what to do with myself during? I just want to drive in and go...
I havent been able to drink cider since i was 17 and drank 4litres and then proceeded to fight with my mates and loose. Then left tied to the swings by my ankles until i was rescued by the police and left in the cells to sober up. Even a whiff of it makes me wanna puke. I darent risk it.
Pub nearby does nice grub. Also does B&B. Which is handy when you have travelled from Oop North to get to CJS
I think i will phone cjs tomorrow and organise a visit. With a B&B nearby and a pub; as long as its not called 'The Slaughtered Lamb' I'm sold. Thanks.
Bike will be on Dyno at Hampshire Motorcycles tomorrow. These are the Dyno that MR use. I never got even a hint of call back or anything else from MotoRapido, so nuts to em. I called, emailed etc. However HMR were very quick and easy to deal with directly themselves.
It has a revolving sign, depending if ' out of towners' are possibly "on the menu"....... There is a new 'Pig' hotel south of Bath not too far away ( the old Hunstrete House hotel- been taken over and done up by the Pig chain), which you could treat SWMBO to, whilst you did the necessary at CJS.....
