My experience is, decent traction control and ABS is faster. When I bought a new S1000RR in 2013 I kept my K6 GSX-R1000, that I'd also had from new. Got familiar with the BMW for 2 or 3 months, and then went out on the Suzuki. I'd done over 20k on the GSX-R without issue, but I came very close to binning it a couple of times on that ride. The Suzuki was gone soon after. Old habits die hard, and I still don't wind the throttle to the stop coming out of 2nd gear corners, but I probably could.
Oil pressure switch. The diaphragm goes on them. About £25 I think. I might even have one you can have. I’ll check when I get home tomorrow…
That's very good of you. Couple of things I need to check though, as, somewhat stupidly, I didn't realise that the Oil light came on as a preset, prior to the engine firing up. As it isn't firing up, I don't know. So it might be that the battery isn't as full as I thought. I'll try that first.
Very likely to be the oil pressure switch as @Mary Hinge says. However, more to the point..get it paid for by the dealer you bought it from as it must have been like that before they delivered it. Shoddy.
9 actually bought it from a wholesaler. And in fairness, was running fine and no warnings etc. Which is why I've had second thoughts and wonder if it's the battery running a bit low. Will check that over and then will have more of a steer. Thanks guys
I think the oil light on my 1198S goes out on cranking the engine, even if it doesn't fire up. Could be wrong though...
Took off the fairing on the left side. The fuel hose above was disconnected, possibly In transit. Is there something you use to keep it tight? Does the small hose that is free connect anywhere or is it for overflow? Anyway. The Amber light for engine error came on. Needs a service anyway, but I'm assuming you need a diagnostic kit to say what the issue is? But at least the red light goes off when cranked, but the engine just won't fire. Guessing it's a fuelling issue since the fuel line came loose?
This must be very disappointing for you and I feel your pain. I would seriously think about sending it back and rejecting it. You shouldn't be having hassle with a bike you've only just taken delivery on.
