  1. Nice bike Kope, but can I ask, are you any good on it? or are you just splashing out for the hell of it, can you beat a teen racer on a RS125? That's one hell of a spec bike! looks the balls!

  2. Does it matter how fast anyone is unless they're racing? I've seen Koen on his Pani and he's not slow! However, for me it's all about having fun on two wheels, from a C90 to a very trick 1199R!

  3. I believe I read somewhere that Kope does 55-57s at Brands Indy which isnt too shabby. Sure its not racing pace, and undeniably Kope will probably go faster than that on a 5000gbp fireblade. But he's not racing and he rides for pleasure on a bike that most of us would be too afraid to bin on the roads let alone do 55s around brands.

I took my 1098r to a track and was somthing like 10 seconds down on my race bike:) I can tell you that I would rather be on the ducati anytime over the race bike. However, I can't afford maintenance or repairs should I bin it.

GL Kope, thanks for the eye candy.

  4. If you have the means and its your passion, then why not.

  5. Andy, am i to take this question seriously?

Of course i can do it. 6ft-200 pound- 54 year olds beat GP dreaming, WSBK lusting teen racer fanatics on RS 125's every day out there. So why would this returnee after 17 years and no specific track pedigree carrying old fart not beat them?

But you got me there ... all i wanted the project NOT to be is to be ' the guy with all the gear but no clue'.. in general, looking back on 2013 i gues i can say that on an average trackday i end up halfway fast group. on a race training day , i end up somewhere halfway the pack... And i tend to hit ' seriously decent riding times' within 3 sessions on tracks i had never been before.. all that on a bike that was at just 60% of its potential as to set up... wich should get amended this year... i must carry enough potential for my 2 seriously fast buddies to think i can hit decent times at SPA to do the 6H endurance with them.. :) that would be a 2:45 .. will be hard work getting there but that's exactly what i plan to put in...

  6. sounds good. not putting you down just blunt questions. good for you, I would be happy not to ride it, I have some old race bikes that I payed more than your 1199 for, they NEVER get touched just looked at!

  7. Why? Dont see the point of owning anything you cant enjoy for what it was built. Paintings are done to hang and enjoy looking at: Ducati are built to be thrashed and ridden :upyeah:

  8. Brads, let s agree on riding :)

  9. Will it have a cup holder?
Lovely pics; makes me smile sitting here looking out in to thick fog for last 2 days. I woke up looked out the window and thought I had cataracts in both eyes!

  10. So did I..turned out to be the Mrs naked picking up clothes from the floor...

  11. It is better than the wrap Bootsam, it doesn't break down like the wrap does and the wrapping is prone to inducing hotspots in the pipes too. :)

  12. OMG! Shock Horror! Kope has substandard material on his 1199R. I shall mock him and point at the offending wrap should I ever get close enough to him and his bike. But I might have to wait until the court order has passed. However if he can do a 55 on the gp at Brands I'll wait till he has parjked in the pits coz I'd never get near that.

  14. Any pics of the electrical housings yet Kope? Also what's the carbon plate on top of the airbox in your last picture?

  15. those pics are comiing up shortly ... the carb must be something MR puts over the airbox to avoid anything going in ... from bits of plastic to dust , i guess... i love it ... :)

    TOMORROW DYNO TIME !

  16. Looking forward to it!

  17. So dyno time....will you make 200?? Given the spec and the work, you gotta be hoping for, as there are 1098R's with just shy of 200

my bet says either...193 or 204

  18. Topping 200. Got to be realistic target!

  19. on the dyno at Ducati Gent : she did 193 RW ... on the dyno MR uses she did 184 RW... Lucs R did 185 here and 196 in Gent... so consistent... let's presume then that MR 's is 'conservative' ... the number i'm hoping to see is minimum 193 and max 196..

true RW bhp on a conservative dyno, that would be like waaaw ! ... do not forget that ALSTARE had trouble hitting 207 from a factory developped RS engine... mine still remains a R engine with factory 195 at the CRANK...

But as i said before : the aim for the exercise is to smoothen pick up and much better throttle respons... i f i can get kick low down in the spirit from the old 1198R, then the lower weight and the nimbler handling sould make it quit a weapon... the use of which the shortened throttle should improve as well... :)
