  1. abmatt2002, sorry about the pants explanation on my part. I meant that the MCE policy was 18 months cover for the same price as 12 months cover from ducati insurance. Seeing as the price was the same, I went for the longer running policy. Artherbikemad, cant help you there, its just what I was quoted. Fully comp and full (14?) ncb. I always haggle and play the companies against each other, amazing how much they can drop their prices!

  2. abmatt2002, just re-read your post. Fair point and interesting. I suppose once you have 'max' ncb thats it? Some companies class 4 years ncb as full, others 7 or 10...

  3. Yes mines 10years ncb plus, well I did the same and played them at the online on on phone price match game and Nash dropped mine 300 this year! just don't understand how they can be so far out!

  4. Just goes to show its all money grabbing bollocks. I really hate insurance companies.

  5. I really hate that I only have one potential insurer who will insure the bike.....thus making it a monopoly on prices. Not much chance of getting any competitive pressure there.....

  6. rc30

I totaly agree been there in the late 80s with the rc30s and r7 with norwich union spending days calling various inws companies

  7. do i smell some thread hijacking here? :)

  8. Er, yes I really like the 1199R....

  9. When any company can drop their price by such a large amount it annoys me. As already said, it just goes to show how much they rip us off if we don't haggle

  10. Ever feel like you're being taken advantage of?

  11. Well out of interest I called MCE today and they told me the max number of bikes they can do on one policy is 5. Did not bother with any quotes etc...as for excess well? Hammer you must have some kind of magic phone wand....after 25 years of this crap I know insurance fairly well...always had multiple bikes seems Nash are still my players for 6.

Sorry to the OP mvman for trashing your thread in the 1199R, my view on the R is if you can afford one why the hell not, I encourage anyway who has the cash to buy what they like so what if its over speced and over priced if I could afford one Id have one in a snap. Otherwise Id buy an 1199 ABS and load it, gas forks and so on till I reached the price range of the R if that's the budget I had set... base R or fully loaded ABS....mmmm choices.....anyway like you say no point in buying it if you can't insure it....unless your track only that is....I wish I were that lucky too, mind you what that luck has anything to do with working hard and spending what you earn...lol

  12. Cant help there arthurbikemad, perhaps it comes down to postcodes or something? One things for sure though, it seems the insurance rule book can bend significantly if they want it to. That said lots of people really seem to rate carole nash or bennetts, but I've never had anything than a totally laughable quote from either in 15 odd years.
