1199 1199s Or 1199r

  1. I'm not sure I'd have one even if I had a budget of £56k for a bike. But the bike costs so much only because of its rarity value and not because of the culmitive value of its parts. Is it really worth the same as two 'R's?!.

  2. I think big m the way the values seem to have dropped its being overpriced from the off, you would expect something this exclusive would hold its value or go up, like you say the new R 28k about , that's ott for a bike but was has the leggera got whats 28k again more ?,

  3. Ducati is a premium brand and the superleggera is Audis way of cashing in on that fact. It's not worth £56k as a pile of components bolted together but the market it was aimed at know this. The people who buy them have their own reasons for justifying the price, and it would have sold in its limited numbers even if the price had been higher. It would be the same if for example Rolex made a limited edition model of one of their watches and asked £100k for them even though it only cost £30k to build. There are people out there who are priveliged enough not to see a price but see an opportunity to become part of an exclusive club and to own a slice of a highly reputable companies history in the form of a rare model. Unfortunately I'm not one of the priveliged few so see it as expensive. It'll be interesting to see how they are valued in years to come.

  4. Have you felt the weight of the S wheels they are shockingly light. That unsprung weight counts for a lot

  9. Hit the magical 620miles today!! So it's all booked in for the first service.
Have ridden in snow, rain, ice you name it
It's absolutely bonkers. Can't wait to give it a good thrash!!!!
Might even go and have a go of a 1299, just for the up and down shifter..... But not too soon!

  10. Good stuff, enjoy yourself now then :grinning:

  11. I agree, the 2015 on R is the one to go for as it pretty much has the SL engine.
But I just put an R engine in my S track bike, then added a titanium superstock exhaust and lightened a few things.
    Dyno'd at 192bhp & 94lb-ft at the wheel.
And it only weighs 182Kg with 10l fuel in as I ride out the pit lane.
    Mah? Really? :)
