1299 1299 To 959

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by raphael, Dec 8, 2024.

  1. Go for the 899 light and easy to ride in town etc. no issues with heat compared to the 1299. Sublime acceleration compared to the brutal 1299. Panigale looks as well.

  2. I'm on my 3rd new S1000RR, and the seat height has increased on each one since 2013. The clutch has got sharper and the front brakes have too. They've still got cruise control, heated grips and a strong engine, but they aren't quite as easy to ride in traffic as they used to be.

  3. I have a 1299s was really a pain around town, putting on a 30mm clutch slave made the clutch very traffic friendly and not much change in lever pull length. No more hand ache

Coupled with +2 on rear sprocket I can now do 17mph before things get jerky and even 30mph in second is alright.

Maybe try that before chopping in your dream.bike

  4. I don't think I could get out of first gear under 30mph on my old 1299S. I did miss it though, so decided to buy another one. Took one out for a test ride, and remembered why I sold the old one. For me a 1299 is for a good time, not a long time now though.

  6. Appreciate that mate, thank you

  7. I’ve got one in the garage, halfway through putting it back together! My mate high sided it at Jerez, and fair to say caused some ‘damage’!

I will say that on that same trip I got to back to back it with a 959 as I was using the 675 until my mate crashed it then my other friend let me ride the 959. The 959 was a pretty big step up in power and torque I’ll be honest, terrible brakes in comparison haha!

The 675 you could do 20-25 min sessions and be tired but lapping reasonably consistently, the 959 though, after 3-4 laps I was hanging, missing apexes, running the wrong gears etc, just so much more physical to ride fast

  9. Jeepers, what's that tail off? Dont remember too many orange 675's?

  10. No, it was painted orange by someone prior to my mate buying it. He bought it basically mint with 2500 miles on it. He then bought a set of white fairings and tank for trackdays and promptly crashed it with the white bodywork on.

I’ve also owned the bike, it sort of gets passed between us! I used it for commuting for a while so my 848 could stay pretty

  13. Same as Roy says, IF the Ducati is a dream bike to you, a gearing change makes it easier to ride. I also had a remap at DWR, Buckingham which allows me to do 20mph in 2nd gear, 30 in 3rd, and 40 in 4th. Easier to ride, and 194 at the wheel! She's a beast, but nicer to ride. Go figure! Haha
