Had a chat with Chaz Davies at Donington Wsbk back in May. He had ridden his race bike without all the electronic aids turned on so he could see how they affected the bike and said he was faster with them on. Much depends on how a bike is tuned and how good the rider is. Anyone who thinks they are safer on road without ABS is very deluded.
referring to my previous post. I know a CBF that doesn't play by that rule. :tearsofjoy: As you say though, ABS now is different to the ABS that bike had in that the modern stuff works.
The very latest electronics are superb. If top racers are faster and safer with them then so is everyone else.
i have one big accident since i ride motorbikes. i start biking around 2005 and 2006 summer my front brake locked on my harley and have a big accident. since riding Abs bikes or all the electronic help didn't even put my self in rouble once. if you are a decent rider with knowledge and like speeding and blasting in b roads Abs is a life saver and traction control could be a great help for some which are using bigger engine more powerfull bikes. i commute in london with motorbikes(all sizes ) for about 9 years now and many times all the big accidents i see was , Bikes with no Abs , bad tires, bad rider, no heated grips
My thoughts on it are that on the whole it makes riding safer. However in my opinion it makes fast bikes far more accessible/user friendly to mortals.. Not like old school bikes that reminded you that it will happily throw you in to the scenery if you take the p*ss!! Okay not necessarily a bad thing? But in my opinion it flatters people's riding so much they forget it's the bike and not them and end up that they are going a lot faster when things go wrong.. Especially when it properly lets go and you're on your own. Big oh sh*t moment for sure.
