Had the 14T mod done to my 848 two weeks ago. I've had the bike two years and had been thinking about doing it almost from day one;- no idea why I didn't as the mod is well worth it. Much less "chugging" on slow roundabouts and clutch slipping in town. Bike just feels "crisper". I would definitely recommend it.
+1 on the 14t front... changed mine a few weeks back & one of the best mods on the bike... Did it myself didnt I @bootsam ? haha... Who needs a C-spanner when a screwdriver & hammer does the job??
I've put a 14t front on every Ducati I've owned. Pretty sure I read that the standard gearing is there because of noise regs rather than any other reason, less engine revs at a particular test speed means less noise. Dont know if anyone can actually confirm that but it would explain the odd gearing Ducati have stuck with for many years.
Glad to see it fitted ok. I went up 4 on the back of mine and an extra 2 links in the chain and it was perfect. i was finding where i ride or at least practice my riding technique 1st gear was to high and 2nd was to low and chugging but now its perfect and the pull in the lower gears is omazing
Is there a reason you didn't go one off the front and one on the bike and keep the same length chain?
Well the bike needed a new chain and sprockets anyway, and i got a set of new super sprox sprockets for £16 the set was -1 +4. But it worked out cheaper to get a new chain and std size sprocket front then a new std rear and chain. if that makes sense
Really wished i'd fitted one prior to my alpine adventure. Would make the slow hairpins easier to navigate. Had to take them faster than I would have liked. Ahem...
am i right in saying that the guy from heal tec tried to rip me off by telling me i needed to fit a speedo healer to correct the speed after fitting different sprockets?
nah hands over the eyes works better. If I cant see you, you cant see me got the added bonus of not seeing all your ugly mugs!
Our speed sensor is on the back wheel so he was trying to rob you. I'm going for chain and sprockets when funds permit it. How many extra horsepower does a gold chain add?
i thought so i remember i needed one for my k4 gixer and asked him at the bike show if the 1098 would need one and he said it did to the tune of £80.00. I've read some pretty damming reports that the gold chains give you 5 or so but if you can get your hands on a super rare red dp one you'll be looking at a gain of 15 if not more
Make complete sense cos a red DP chain is three times as expensive as a gold one so is obviously three times better
