Yeah . Meant of a simiar era. But its all subjective use what you like best . Thats why I stick with the 180 . Ive had 190s but like the 180 better . Its good to have a choice . I hade to use a 600 cbr wheel in my early fireblade to use a 17 inch tyre . 16 inch was way to restrictive for choice.
Why would the ( effective ) bigger tyre / ( wheel ) radius make for longer wheel base , i can understand taller .
not always, as its seems some 55 profiles aren't the same as others! The PR4 is far taller than the std scorpion tyres for example
Back when the T9 was the current model, many owners junked the 190 in favour of a 180, because of quicker turn in. Can't see how you could ever ride off the edge of a 180. Pegs hit the ground before that happens. Also worth considering is that tyre technology has moved on and grip is far better today than back in 2003.
I run Bridgestone R10's with a 190/55 on the back of my early 2003 999S and have had no problems, i prefer the feel of it to a 180. Assuming it's the same wheel get a scrub and try it to see how it feels. A 190/50 was standard on the 999.
I run a 190/60 on a 6" rear with out any dramas, and am very happy with turn in and balance in the corner. I used to run a 18/55 on the standard 5.5'' rim to quicken up the steering etc, but I think as noted in a response above, the tires available now are a different breed in comparison to 2003-6 era
