Featured 1980 Darmah 900 Ssd In France

  1. Isn't that screw the one that is inside the starter chain/sprocket cavity that is only accessible when the starter chain/sprocket cavity cover is removed? And you possibly removed it when removing the complete LHS clutch/flywheel cover.

  2. That is exactly what happened, @Andy Bee:rolleyes:
Found one too many screws in the box with the rest of the screws for the complete LHS cover. Fits perfect.

Except now, the pickups have moved… And I don’t have the tool to set them back to the right position. Learning the hard way… B0ABF31B-CEBC-4AD9-89D2-53A1BF4BB26F.jpeg

  3. Oh arse.... but as they say every day is a learning day :)

However I'm not entirely sure it's the bolts dabbed with red paint that are the ones that change the position of the pickups with the bolt you removed only holding the plate on which the pickups sit.

I think the plate pivots but not entirely sure from which end

  4. The caged nut bolt from which I mistakenly removed a screw while removing the LHS cover is a little loose and has some play. The plate seems to pivot around the other screw. None of the red painted screws holding the actual pickups were tempered with.

  5. So you might have got away with it then, because it seems neither the plate or pickups have actually moved wrt to the ignition rotor.

I assume the only movement of the plate was in the up/down direction so replace the bolt & clamp it up tight.

  6. Nah… I’ll upload a video later, but I am afraid it’s going to be more complicated that this.

  7. Here’s the deal, with the accidentally removed screw at the bottom being loose.

If I follow the red marked screws « don’t mess with me » logic, I feel like I may not be in too much trouble. Is the important part the relative position and orientation of the pickups to each other?

Edit : Looking at the workshop manual, I will definitely need to reset the pickups. Well, I guess a new tool needs to be ordered. Always nice to buy a new tool, right? :D

  8. I'm going to have to drop out of this issue because my knowledge doesn't stretch that far & would hate to give advice that is incorrect and makes things worse.

The Darmah workshop manual has a section that explains how to correctly position the pickups/plate which requires the use of tool 887130131. It looks like the tool fits into the casing (in only one way) and has slots or score marks built into it's central hub that the pickups slot into or align with. I see mdinaitalia have four in stock at £190 and it is made by Brancato engineering so will be totally accurate and most possibly come with instructions.

  9. Thanks Andy. I read the section of the manual and I know I need that tool now. Everyday is a school day!

  10. I'm sure the DOC rent the tool out.

  11. Ducati Owners Club - possibly only a UK club but is there similar in France.

  12. Yes there is. Don’t know about the tool renting program, though.

And I always love new tools. :D

  13. Have you met Keir Starmer?

  14. I had to look him up… Sorry.
What has he got to do with new tools?

  15. More progress!! :D E37331AC-124B-4AF9-93F6-23B1474FEA32.jpeg 73660721-6414-43C6-BC29-32B58F23BB7F.jpeg

  18. You can get still get Brembo parts for refurbishing the calipers and master cylinders. This forum's own Ducati Paddy is a great supplier of such stuff, see https://www.ducatipaddy.com/www-ducatipaddy-com/New-Brembo-Parts

And as promised here are the two airboxes, front one first & then the rear.

  19. I was talking about discs hardware this time. For the calipers and master cylinders, I did get everything from Brembo. :upyeah:

So you removed the air boxes from your Darmah? I really don’t like how these look and really don’t want them in thus bike… Is that a mistake ?
