Nope. Small frames as we called them were always rubbish, unless its an old 90ss (super rare). I dont consider PK or PX range to be scoots. The last vespa to be a proper scoot was a P200E. Also I am a Lambretta man and we look down our noses at Vespas just like Ducati people look down their noses at Jap il4's. But even then theres snobbery amongst the Lammies. I wouldnt even look at an Li 125, 150 etc. To me it has to be a GP, GT, TV or an SX. Plus it has to be italian. Servetta or the indian ones arent worth tuppence. Its 'Innocenti' or nothing. That said a small frame went past me on the way home from Bridlington one year like I was standing still. I eventually caught up with them at a petrol station and enquired. It was water cooled, reed valved, bored out, fat spannie everything boy was it quick. Reason I caught up with it was he heat seized lol. I miss my old AF GP200....worth in excess of 10k nowadays and I sold it for £900 in 92....gutted. Still money went towards a GSX1100 Katana. Great bike. Sometimes you just gotta move on. I dont want to be that 50 yr old teddy boy i remember from my youth, still holding onto the same thing year after year. Gotta change, move on, try different things. Which is why ive never returned to my scooter roots. Besides ive run out of shin bone. My shin is a mass of kickstart scars and lumps.
Fair nuff... When we bought it I always wanted to go down the modification route on it just to get a touch more power but she was dead against... Ideally? I'd vinyl wrap all the pink bits & have it myself along with the 848... Something quite refreshing about not having to arse about with leathers for 15 minutes before nipping out for a spin...
Theres a lot to be said for a small bike for those quick trips. I had an SMR510 Husky that was great fun on the b roads and around town. Sometimes its nice to get on a small bike without all the hassle, i agree.
