front cylinder affected most as more in the line of fire but it's generally something you can live with. It's unusual but if the trailing edge tongue distorts towards timing belt then can lead to belt being pushed off sprocket - happened on one of my 750 Elefants on the M25.
You can still get those inner covers from Ducati and they aren’t very expensive, £15 ish if I remember correctly.
Could well be correct, drastic reductions get applied to old stock items at dealers from time to time, but they never tell you in advance or issue a list!
I dumped chargehands nearly 20 yrs ago. Joking Carr, awaiting bits and pieces, heat resist paint and rear sprocket bearing, header gaskets . Took my fairings and front fender to my mates for paintwork will be a few weeks he is a one man band and very busy. I wheeled the chassis into the yard and gave it a washing off just a sponge and soapy solution. When the bike was delivered i noticed when i wheeled it into the cave something rattling inside the rear wheel. I have remove the drive hub off the Dymag and shook out a what looks like a tiny transponder circular with hardened off adhesive on it ?? There we are at the moment, just running my wife to work and will back in the cave later.
My earlier ‘93 model and now my current ‘97 one both had DataTag stickers on Think they must have been all the rage back then? Not found the transponder..yet
On my SS I found one in the tank, another in the seat, and one in the warning lights circuit board box.
Oh Oh BTW you were right about the carb connector, apologies to all, i can't find any on flea bay but still searching, there is a double bump seal in the connector and am wondering wether to let it go, they are not perished in anyway. The inner timing cover fittings are available from (Cornerspeed) Neil he would have to order them . I might fabricate a pair of alloy ones as seen, the price of originals work out about £50. Today i do be mostly taking the seat to my local seat lady, it had worn through on either side on the bottom edges, rest of the cover perfect, she kindly undo the sides and stretched the cover a tad and re- stapled FOC, lovely girl i like free things me. Rear brake master cylinder wasn't returning when applied , stripped and cleaned without opening the fluid system, rusty push rod and sticky piston in the nylon slider, works well now. Clutch slave cyl really manky, paint removed and cleaned up i might just leave it polished alloy looks nice with the all matt black engine. Still awaiting more paint to arrive will post pics when done. Back in from the cave now, the wife has been baking cakes all day for the Care home Xmas fete Friday, Lemon Drizzle, Dundee, and a nice light fruit cake which she doubled up on half of it has gone down the neck already.
