1st service options?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by redsail, Jul 22, 2013.

  1. Thats what I have found over a few years of Ducati ownership.

  2. That's a good point. Though you would have to know they are good in the first place I suppose. No point trying to build a relationship with a crap dealer.

  3. A crap dealers reputation soon gets around.Ask people in your area who they go to and then try their recommendations.Word of mouth is the best form of advertising.

  4. Why are your local dealer, Riders of Cardiff a crap dealer? I haven't heard anything, although I'm 300 miles from you.

  5. I didn't say they were crap. They are however quite expensive. I've got no experience with their service dpt. but at least one of the sales chaps has been superb.

  6. I think that official dealers are all the same cost which will be determined by Ducati.

Independents, however, may be able to do their own thing.

  7. 1st service:
    Ducati Coventry £167
    Riders Cardiff £180

  8. So you're quibbling about £13

  9. Also the 'big' service was over £900 at riders, Coventry quoted £7-800.

  10. Ha, no. But there is a difference. Its more to do with the quality though and I'm just a bit jaded when it comes to dealers.

  11. Yeah, but like I say, why are you unsure of the quality of service provided by Riders?

  12. Because I'm unsure of any dealer I haven't used before.

  13. So their sales chaps have been superb, You've no prior experience with their service dept but are reluctant to use them and they are only £13 more expensive than another dealer. I'm sure you could put the price to them and they'd match another official dealer, in my experience, once you become a regular customer you get looked after a little better.

I'm a bit perplexed as to why you don't give them a chance with the 1st service and see how the experience goes. Take it from there.

  14. But, this is getting off track.... I have my answer, which is that I can't go indy :(

  15. All those first service prices getting quoted seem ridiculous my dealer only charged for the oil and filter the labour was free because the bike was bought from them surely any decent dealer would do the same I think I paid about £80 including the 14t front sprocket. Where did u buy the bike from they sound like crooks every new bike I've had I've been given a discounted first service from 3 different dealers

  16. I didn't buy the bike from Riders, so it's full whack servicing cost. Sounds like you had a good deal on the service & sprocket. I did get a good deal of the Corse though, so swings and roundabouts.

  17. I'm guessing your pretty pissed off with the dealer you bought it from if you won't consider taking it there then

  18. No, its not that. It's just miles away from me and inconvenient ATM.

  19. Oh well u might have to bite the bullet then be prepared for the snotty attitude when u take a brand new bike for a service u didn't buy from them lol

  20. I know I was worried about that. :)

However the reality was quite different. Booked into Riders on Monday and the service chap was very nice, absolutely fine about it not being bought from them (I was quite apologetic about it too).
