  1. Time to get on track now and see how she really goes.

I’ve now put 125 miles on the bike since it’s rebuild and apart from a leaky copper washer, it’s been fantastic (on open roads). When riding on slower roads and filtering, it’s absolutely killing my back and showing up old injuries so I think I’m well out of the picture for using it as a track bike now

    Looks amazing out though :)

  3. I suffer from back and leg probs on road. Riding at speeds on track is far easier, as you are moving about constantly.

  4. The roads are the only place I ride it now, so a bit of a shitter lol.
Once the copper washers and banjo turn up at the end of the week, I’ll get the bike out again and see how I feel

  5. It will make more sense on the track mate, you'd probably enjoy it more too.

  6. I’d definitely enjoy it, but a road bike is what I need at the moment. I think I balls’d up by getting this as a road bike! Might be time to change to something different for the road : unamused:

Once it’s on the move, it truly comes into its own! Handles amazingly and throttle response is great! This is with me still taking it easy as still running in, so full pelt on track would be another level!

  7. Got the cover off the bike and went for the total of 4 miles for its MOT and back today. Passed absolutely spot on and no advisory’s. So back in the garage ready for another years riding

It’s now done 382 miles in 7 years! 378 of those since January

  9. Thanks @Messer!

Really happy with how it is now compared to a year ago. Just need to get myself a genuine oil cooler and decals over the winter

  10. Hi Ian,

Once I fitted it, the extra depth of the RS cooler didn’t allow the side fairings to push together at the bottom. The RS cooler must only work with fairings with an undertray.

At the moment I’ve got an ST4 oil cooler fitted, which is doing the job. But a genuine one to fit properly behind the V panel will finish the bike off :)

  11. Gotcha. Thinking now, I had to notch out a bit of the inners on my belly pan for it to fit. Same with the 1098 cooler!

  12. I was tempted to do the same, but didn’t want to cut into the fairing. There seemed to be a fair amount that would need to be taken out, so I’ll wait for something to come up. There’s a fair few on US eBay, but they’re all after £200+ for ones in tatty condition.

Normally I wouldn’t mind with putting an aftermarket one on and being done with it, but I’d like an original to maintain a bit of originality.

  13. Be careful with a used oil cooler, let’s say someone’s motor lunched itself and they decide to break it, all that lovely particle filled oil will have found its way through the cooler.

Worth asking the question when you buy it, what was the condition of the bike it came from! And make sure it’s spotless inside when you fit!

  14. I presume these ones from China are useless then

Silly question really as age & experience has long taught me you get what you paid for:confused:

  15. I’d say so Paul!

I’ve got an ST4 oil cooler on mine at the moment. They fit EXACTLY the same as the 748/916 ones (mounting holes, oil line lengths etc) and only £50 on eBay. The only issue is, the ST cooler are curved

  16. After the time and money that has gone in to my engine this year, I’ll be well cautious.
It’s always near on impossible to know to what standard a bike has been maintained to (if at all).

I may end up having a Mocal or similar made up to the same spec as the original cooler for belts and braces
