I would like the mods but I would also like the mag headlight bucket and the carbon seat as well as the correct top fairing . Which , for me , would mean I`d have to buy one with all the bits or would have to have it cheap enough to buy the missing bits that would probably be 1.5K .
Mag headlight and carbon seat wasn't fitted on the 749R. So they are not missing from the original spec.
Fair enough, but I'd still favour a bike with those trinkets fitted over one without them I.e. when I get an R I'll get one with tasty bits already on Having said that, it really is too bad you don't have the original nose cone anymore. Lovely bike btw, looking forward to seeing the pics with the custom nose cone.
Yes they were . 2004 749R was all carbon including the seat and the headlight was magnesium. Later years were all plastic and not sure of the headlight bucket .
I had a 2004 and it never had those parts, as they were never fitted as standard. Only the 999r had them.
I have a 2004 749R, no carbon seat and no mag headlight - they were never standard fitment on the carbon clad models.
Well I was sure that they were all carbon for 2004 . It wasnt a new one I was looking at in 2006 when I bought my 999R it was a 2004 model but it only had 150 mile on it . I nearly went for the 749R and I can remember the salesman showing me the carbon tail and the mag headlight saying that they were the same except for the seat . Maybe they had been uprated . Wrong again by the looks of it.
The carbon tail was only fitted on '03-'04 999R's, they are easily recognized since they are partially unpainted. All other models had a completely painted plastic tail. No 749R's had the mag headlight bucket (unless specifically ordered with it as a DP part).
Yes but the RS is a totally different story than the street models. And actually, there is no such thing as a 749RS. They are R models with "RS" parts installed on a later stage. There were no factory made 749RS's.
Sorry, English isn't my mother tongue and you Brits(?) aren't quite the easiest folk to figure out in the first place
