On another note so what is the difference between 05 999 and 05 999s engine? As in why S has few more bhp? I know difference between 749 and 749s was mainly (if not only) timing on engine side.
I believe the S has Titanium con-rods and a lighter crank. Poss. Ti valves as well? In reality, not a huge difference, but combined with Ohlins and Radial brakes as well it's the one I'd go for.
S had titanium rods. engine tuning same as base but I think ducati quoted extra bhp for the termi that came with the bike.
Oh, that dodgy one it's been mentioned on here, a few things wrong with it from the pictures, it appears to have sold too...
I would say so - but all you need to do is look at images of the Marchesini 999S and 999R wheels and you will see the immediate visual difference - The forged wheel has much slimmer spokes - Originally the forged wheel has a tricolor sticker whereas the forged is just black and white -
Here for your info is an image from my 999R - Its not very clear as it was taken in the garage at night a while back and the focus is not on the sticker as you will see - But it should be enough for you to see the actual sticker and the colours and also look at how slim the spokes are - Hope this helps you
Doing a bit of digging just now. Apparently cast have gassing out bubbles ?? Will have a look to see if there are any other marks.
2003 & 2004 R's had fatter spokes and 2005 & 2006R's thinner spokes, also the Fila was reported to have magnesium forged wheels in the Ducati press release - even though this seems to be somewhat of an uncertainty.
Well short of putting a vernier on the different spokes then I can tell they are different when you have them side by side and like everything else after you see them frequently you can gauge the difference fairly readily
