also you can see that your wheel spokes are not a forged pattern - at least a late wheel - Compared to my image - Whereas the pattern matches my 2005 S
No, I am trying to determine if your advice was correct regarding 999R forged wheels - were they all thin or were the 2003 & 2004 ones thicker?
Not wanting to have a Speed Triple rant, but I added a question mark to the word "verdict". So technically a question that wasn't rhetorical....
and here for more interesting info is an image from by mate's 2004 9R and again you will see a slimmer profile spoke
To summarise - It is my opinion that only 999R have forged wheels standard - Which was the original question. To differentiate forged wheels have slimmer spokes and a tricolor sticker original fit. This would be applicable to 2004 onwards - Can comment on 2003 or Fila derivatives -
After taking all the above into account.... Dunno Although I'd suspect if the previous owner had spent all of his money the same way, he invested in some stickers as an upgrade to his standard wheels.....I'll have a closer look once its light and warmer....
And even more interesting than that here's a 2003 999R with fatter forged spokes... so, the forged wheels can be fatter or thinner. All the earlier R's came with fatter forged wheels. Does you mates 2004R have Black Swing-arm and Red frame? Is it a 54 plate?
Writing on mine is white as well, which I haven't seen elsewhere....that's wiped a fiver off the resale....
