That told me then. I live up North and ride all over the country and Europe. The worst palce to ride and not because of the countryside or people is North Yorks. It swarms with anti bike cops. Riding legally doesn't make them leave you alone
Dates dependant, I will be up for it. Nice ride up/across from Settle to there. can we set up an east/west divide, too. Maybe the Ducati people's front of Lancashire versus the people's front of ducati Yorkshire?
what about a peak district run ( the snake , Glossop) then across to skegvegas ????? and back or stay over ????
Is there a race meeting at Cadwell the BH weekend at the end of May? That'd be a thought. The program for Cadwell isn't on their website as yet. Wonder if Dave would care for company on the ride from the SW!
Does anybody have enough bike security for a trip to Skeggy?!? (Yeah - get the cheap scouser jokes out the way now!) peak district is good, but would avoid Cat n Fiddle as the Gestapo are all over it, not been over Snake for a long while, so unsure how over-policed it is these days. did a trip through the dales last summer and summer before, some lovely peaceful roads to enjoy there (the trip from here to the start of the Dales was nothing short of shoite, as Lancashire seems to have become over populated with very annoyingly slow people and the roads were all a bit "boring" - maybe just didn't plan the route well enough)
If Tan Hill can accommodate us, which I won't find out until the weekend, I have an excellent route up through Northumbria into borders and back, about 200 miles in total very scenic and never usually that busy There is nothing to stop other members from put something else together for another time
My last experience on the Snake - last summer - made me think the Police are quite keen. It's a 50 zone too now, with a couple of speed vans enforcing it. Just my experience, but I think there's better roads about now.
Hi Nik, No attempt to hijack the thread, so apologies for the ramblings. I can understand the PITA of organising stuff only for too many permutations being put forward. Post the dates once you get all your info to hand and we can all see who can and cannot make it. Personally, looking forward to the chance of a few organised meets/rides. pete
Pete, no apology needed. I too thought it was about time for a meet/ weekend away, and having been on other forum meetings around this area, and know some good routes around here was my reason in picking this area. I was hoping for a bank holiday weekend so it would make it easier if members travelled from a far, but they may be booked up, if i get alternative dates i will put it to a poll.
The snakes no different from any other bike route .... Take the piss on it though and booooom!!!! Me and emm are always on it ......the snake that is .......... No not my snake ......... Well ...err ok that too
Ours up to Holmfirth, Holme Top drop down to woodhead bypass hit the Glossop road, over the snake up to Rivelin and then back to Barnsley. Yes the route we took with you and Tony
I agree with Emm. It's a great route providing the road to glossop hasn't just been covered in gravel
Yep that was not good what with me new to riding the duke and you new on yours not a great stretch of road - marbles springs to mind!
I was more bothered about getting Eva scratched from the gravel being flung in the air. The rest of the ride was good though
