Any setting makes no difference, going back for its Brian to be flashed on Wednesday, watch this space
Haven't been on a long ride, picked it up from dealers, 15 miles of riding on a magic carpet, silky smooth suspension on rough Tarmac, then fitted the charger lead to battery and that's when it all kicked off, haven't had chance to use it since so hoping for results When it goes back Wed, if it's all ok then I suggest you do the same as if you have the skyhook it shouldn't be HAAAAAD
I have exactly the same problem as this when i swapped round the charger lead to be on the other side of the bike.
Back from the dealers today after getting the DES re booted, better than before but still a harsh rider compared to when I first picked it up, confused .com. Have to play around with the setting otherwise back again
Having been away for a week or two I came back to a flat battery (must remember next time to switch on Optimate after connecting it to the bike!) I think the "not switched on" Optimate helped to drain the battery?. Any way the bike was dead so switched on charger and left it, 2 days later switched it on and it powered up slowly, not the usual quick power up and then went through a full recalibration of the rear suspension. The bike was on the centre stand and is a 2013 Touring mode - Skyhook. Since then it has been just fine, usual quick power up and suspension just the way it was before. As an idea try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting and give it time at the start up to do the full recalibration, that is if you still have the problem.
Going to have a proper play tomorrow, I did allow for the full calibration, dealers confirmed that the suspension had gone into default mode ( mode if des fails) hence the harsh ride, they reset it on the computer but doesn't seem as smooth as it previously was.
Well that confirms it, took wife out today and only got a few miles down the road when I got told to pull over, she complained about a very harsh ride filling every bump and ripple in the road, tried urban, touring, two up, softened to min etc etc but still sh*t, either the SCU is faulty or skyhook is poor, need to get this sorted as it ridiculous, so far Ohlins with scu rock. Any skyhook owners out there please give some feedbCk on how the suspension should feel like in standard settings. Really beginning to pi*s me off
No, I played with all the setting, reducing front and rear etc but set to default before taking wife out, Urban 2 up, touring 2 up, sports 2 up (no luggage) all the same result Back to the dealers again even though they said it was sorted grrrrr
well mine with 2 up and touring on std settings lifts the bike at least an inch at standstill and firms everything up, as it should, to allow for extra weight, then disappears when I turn it off
...is it sorted now? Had no trouble with my GT model but have never disconnected the power. I ride it most day Urban mode, abs and traction set high, solo rider with luggage. The rear spring is lower than two up riding and the ride is softish and comfortable especially with the gel seats as standard. Will watch post for your up date, Vince
Your timing couldn't of been better, just picked up the bike from Riders, even more confused now, they told me they could find nothing wrong, HOWEVER they told me that if you switch on the ignition and don't start the bike within around a minute the skyhook defaults to get me home mode ie rock hard. Coming back from the dealers seemed a lot better but still not smooth as expected so will play with the settings the weekend, will also leave the ignition on for a minute or so just to see if it does default into hard mod. If this is really the case I thought it would of reared its head before now on the forum, over to you guys!!
I agree, sounds like a load of tosh to me too! For what it's worth my pal complains is skyhook is not as comfortable as his previous 2010 model or my Ohlins scu equipped bike. Dealer has checked it over and says there is nothing wrong..? Sorry. No help I know..? But an observation never less
But I'm sure there is lots of skyhook riders on here that will say otherwise. And are very happy with the skyhook
Hi Frank, I am no expert but have owned two multi's standard 2010(2yrs) and now a GT (1yrs).....Yes, I think your dealer is talking tosh unless the instructions have been lost in translation!...is he/she a Ducati trained engineer? For the record, if you switch the ignition on but don't start the bike it will switch off again automatically, well mine does! .....switching from Enduro mode to Sport mode will give the most travel of rear spring ( you should hear the spring motor) with a change of ride height. Check this working. To be honest the ride is firm but not hard, the biggest difference I've felt (reason I bought skyhook) is the way the bike reacts to road surfaces/potholes etc, the system 'irons' out these uneven surfaces obviously not completely but noticeably so the ride is smoother. The only way to really test this is to ride a non skyhook bike back to back with yours, ask for a demo ride of the standard bike! I think it's worth mentioning that the different modes don't just change suspension settings but throttle delivery. ...may be this helps...or has paranoia set in! Vince
