Of all the thread which we've shared, I think that this is finally something which we agree on. Peace.
That's me jumping ship from the V4 as a possibility. I'm absolutely sure it's a fantastic bike but for me the off road pretensions do nothing at all to set my pants alight. After 5 years of 1200S ownership the nearest thing to off road my bike has been is a gravel car park. I'm sure I'll get shot down in flames but I still don't like the look of the V4. Hey-ho, beauty is in the eye of the beer holder. I've got a 1260S arriving next week, maybe the last of the true ballistic Ducati V twin sports tourers. Enjoy whatever you ride.
The Revzilla reviews from our friends across the pond are always good value .... Apologies if already posted elsewhere. Got to say, I think it looks better with spoked wheels
Don’t feel like you’re alone in your viewpoint. That’s the reason for starting the above survey. As you point out, I’m sure it’s a great bike but somewhere around 99% of riders want a sports tourer/ adventure type bike not an enduro/off roader. Especially at £20k. And yes, it’s a Munterstrada.
As a serial bike changer, I really wanted to like it, and was prepared to take the flack and get berated for ordering one so soon after getting my 1260, but it's really not floating my boat right now. I'm waiting to see what the Pikes Peak version will be like, but at the moment I'm not rushing to my nearest dealer to get a test ride.
For those who are in the market for a new adventure/touring bike but can’t let go of the V-Twin configuration, your prayers have been answered
Tried to find information but the “full reveal” isn’t until 22nd February although this bike is powered by a “new generation of middle weight engines” with projected output around 140hp and 90lbft torque or in GS1260 territory according to the article I did find. Apparently already shown to European dealers to gauge interest ....... and it’s still going into production Andy
It’s a cure for all the unfortunate people showing signs of duress living in Covid times. One look at this and you laugh for eternity. NB I am not belittling anyone who is/has suffered any duress of any kind.
Maybe there was a discussion something like this in Ducati’s design briefings? “Do you think the new Multi V4 design is a step too far away from the old one, I’m worried it might put potential owners off and go to the competitions offerings?” “what like this from HD?” “Phew, I was worried there for a second”
What the hell is going on with bike design lately? They’re all so bloody ugly, it’s extraordinary. If someone builds an attractive tourer they could clean up but no, they’ve all fallen out of the ‘Ugly Tree’ and hit every branch, hard.
This is probably treading familiar ground, but I’ve stuck my thoughts up after living with one for two weeks. I’d have done more riding shots but I was summoned home by a girlfriend in labour...
