I saw that thing as a pre production mock-up at bike show 2019. There was a large crowd standing laughing at it.
I do believe the designer is a lifelong fan of Star Wars and wanted to ride an AT-AT one day.....Look at the HD nose/headlight and the AT-AT.... I bet the exhaust can play the imperial march at cruise speeds too......
Call me a traitor, but I like the look of the Pan America better than I like the look of the V4S. It looks like Bender or a Cylon. The Multi first looked like Dali's bubble gum machine, then an awesome bird of prey on the attack, but now it looks like a sparrow with a bit of downs syndrome.
On past responses to positive videos, that video won’t be enough to appease the detractors ..... even when they are wrong Tank range is better than I get from mine, ridden with similar enthusiasm. Andy
Some people (like me) don't worry about what the tank range is when ridden with similar enthusiasm (hooning around), but we do care about mileage and range when touring. I live in the USA (in the boring parts), and over here we don't get months of vacation time, so if I want to see the good bits, I have to get on the interstate and ride 2000 miles one way in a relatively short amount of time. If I can do that and go 225 miles between fill ups, that is much better than going 175 miles between fill ups. I think all reviewers should not only hoon around, but go out on the interstate and ride 5 over the speed limit for a full tank of gas, then turn around the come back, and let us know the gas mileage figures each way and the average. For all bikes, not just this one. I mean sure, this isn't as fun, but they are doing a gravy job that most people would kill for, so they could handle a few hours of boredom.
Humour friend, humour. If you read through the bulk of this topic, the Multistrada V4 has been roundly criticised before the first bikes appeared. With the exception of the poor range and possibly the bike’s looks, the bike is clearly proving a lot more capable than many expected, including a GS rider . Andy
Until they ride the yet to be released KTM 1290SA, then that is best, then along comes the new a Triumph Dora(Explorer), then the Mutley PP V4 comes out and that’s the ‘now’ best bike for 2021. Rinse, repeat de da de da.
Tbh I think like Alistair Fagan says, the tank range becomes far more of an issue if your mates have 50-100 miles more range than you do?
Rule of thumb when we plan a tour is to re fuel every 100 miles or so. That’s invariably getting on towards 3 hours on the bike which, given the age of most of us, requires exercising the joints and the bladder. Andy
I was impressed so I ordered one. I had a 2014 then a 2016 which I traded in. I am 70 and loved the power and the upright seating position. I use it for sport touring and I am sure I will enjoy the ride. I also was tired of spending 2200.00 every 30 k for the desmo service. I am looking forward to cruise control, blind spot detection , hill hold and the quick shifter.
Have Ducati actually said that service cost will be cheaper? I know they’ve doubled the length between the interval but will probably say it’s twice the price of the DVT because there are double the cylinders......
At the mileage that the valve service is required the vast majority of users will have traded the bike in for something else. The bike will, most likely, be out of warranty, even an extended one, so an independant mechanic or even DIY would be the way to go. Though I bet that getting the service indicator cancelled will be a ballache if not serviced by a franchised dealer.
