2022 8 Day Euro Trip Booked :)

  2. So, not long now really, 7 weeks. The amount of things you have to do and the amount of money it takes is madness!

On the bike over the past 2 months - MOT, Service inc. all plugs and air filter, snapped the fast release connector on the fuel pump so had to source this (Moto Guzzi part for £10!) - Pirelli Angel GT Tyres, Garmin 396 Nav, bar risers, Touratech seat....... But the biggest P*ss take was the top box I sourced didn't come with the plastic bushing to hold the spare barrel I had. So after some investigation it was the same bushing as the seat. So essentially I paid £52 for a plastic bushing but at least I can use my one key for all the luggage.... Happy days and the countdown begins. I suppose I will have to look at all the countries rules and regs to see what stickers I need on the back (UK) I suppose, high vis vests blah blah.

  3. At least the service items and tyres aside you'll be prepared for next time.

If you're new to using a Garmin experiment with making multipoint routes and riding them before you leave. MyRouteApp is probably the best tool for creating them, the paid for version can be used for creating Garmin specific routes with the right settings. Many new Garmin users have gone on tour and blame the sat nav for illogical routing when it's a case of garbage in, garbage out. There is a learning curve to getting these devices to work properly.

  4. Yup
Out of the four of us, two got nicked on one of the passes, 2nd and 4th rider.
Cop at bottom could,nt read the reg,s fast enough . Cop at the top pulled us over , very lucky not to have bikes impounded. Fined on the spot and away we went.
From memory e35. Stunned at the time it was,nt a lot more tbh.
We were,nt gunning it either, maybe 10/15 over limit.

  5. Ain’t the truth ? :joy: Andy

  6. You need a UK sticker, not GB and if your number plate has the old EU symbol you want to cover that up. You can get blue UK motorcycle numberplate stickers on Amazon for a quid.
If you are in Switzerland you'll need a vignette to go on the motorway (you can buy these at the border), in France you can just pay by card. Make sure your credit/Debit card doesn't charge for foreign transactions.
Also don't be filtering in Germany and Switzerland. Checkout which countries require you to carry spare bulbs if you aren't LED and also some expect you to carry a high vis vest and first aid kit.

  7. I’ve never had a GB or UK sticker on any of my bikes over the years, and I ride in Europe a lot. I’ve seen loads of police and never been pulled over.

  8. It's like the requirement to carry a first aid kit, all it takes is something to draw their attention and then they might get all picky about everything else. Anyhow it's just a little blue sticker on the number plate.

Yes, it's annual but I think it was only around 30 swiss francs, so not terrible money if you are using their motorways.

  9. €40 apparently...

  10. That is because there is no requirement to carry a first aid kit on a bike in France.

  11. So that's it, the time has come and this weekend we're off! - Brilliant. Got the bike how I want it, looks good (I think).. One snag, typically I'm ill, holed up in bed on antibiotics and other pain killing stuff. Viral infection of the throat and ear, headaches, temp and body feels tired and aching. This is now a rush to get fit to go :( Can't tell you how bad I need to get away for a bit  - Anyway might just take all the pills I can (which keeps me safe to ride) and push through it...

Anyway - The bike in it's readiness.

  12. Bike looks good, hope you get well for your trip. I’ve got to wait until September for my trip.

  13. Maybe not for France, but each country has a slightly different requirement list. Easier to meet them all if you are crossing borders.

@MrACD - I hope you recover quickly and have a great trip.

  14. Bloody typical! Your symptoms will be heightened as you’re going away, and your brain is telling your body it just needs rest. Once you leave on the bike, all will be well, and your brain will realise this is happening whether it likes it or not!

  15. 4 times this year I have been asked if I am from Ukraine. UK sticker on the rear box.
Tried to explain the change but gave up and accepted the apartment and 2000 euros a month. :p
