2023 Isle Of Man Tt

  1. Decided on the wall at Gorse Lee today. Not scorching hot yet but no doubt it will be when the morning mist burns off

  2. Sounds like when I went in the 90's for the Manx Rally, literally nothing open, lots of places closed down. We struggled all of that week to get a meal from anywhere.

Saying that when I've been for the TT and Manx GP in later years it was much improved, more spectators for a start.

On another note I'm going over Thursday as a foot passenger (camping), back Sat night so not sure where I/we will spectate.

Are the buses any good, thinking Friday to go quite way away from the grandstand by bus, then obvious back by bus after the racing. Saturday thinking trying to head up towards Brandish as I hope I can walk back from there if the buses are screwed?

  3. He’s seemingly unstoppable. Can’t fault his ability and commitment. I just wish he’d cheer up a bit. He always looks like he’s just stood in some dog shit. Even on the podium!

  4. Youve havent got marc marquez slapping into the side of you at xxxmph though ;p (or any other faring bashing)

  5. Having read on here and another forum the first hand accounts of how many shops/restaurants are closed are there less visitors? Was it easier to get a crossing and accommodation?

Salisbury is the nearest large town/city to us, there are a higher than usual number of empty retail/restaurant units, so this is not specific to IoM.

I haven’t looked for 2024, but it’s only a matter of time before I have time and plan a return.

  6. On the MotoGP v TT, unless you have stood next to both circuits it’s hard to understand. The difference is probably a bit more like F1 and WRC. Short circuit riders and drivers slide off in to the gravel traps, WRC & TT or road racers end up in a wall, tree, hedge, or in Connor Cummins case off the side of the mountain.

As much as I appreciate the tech of MotoGP and F1 it’s not attritional like road racing and WRC.

Im lucky to have seen every kind of car/motorbike racing from Beetles at Castle Coombe to F1, WRC, MotoGP, WSBK, Bol’dor, NW200, TT etc. IoM TT is the pinnacle IMO.

I have also been lucky enough to see a few stages of the TDF and La Vuelta, now that’s bravery and toughness rolled in to one.

  8. I think he has the same genetic gene from his famliy on the conversation front, that was off putting for me in the early days, but for me it's what he does on the bike that counts.

  9. When do Steam Packet returns normally go on sale, Feb normally isnt it?

Been looking at booking up next year but i want to take car/bike trailer/dogs and its spitting out silly dates and times.

  10. Booking for next year all gone now, wait for the resale in the spring when everyone realise they can’t go after all. Car or van and trailer going to cost you though

  11. Worth every penny when I’ll be sitting in a car when it’s pissing down with rain on the way there and back though :) (also cheaper than lashing three dogs in kennels for 10 days)

  12. couldn't book last year unless i wanted stupid dates and times

checked again in February, about the 16th, balance has to be paid by 28th or something

a lot of people cancel, got my original dates except out of liver pool into heysham

cost me £477 for the car and £129 for the mrs, robbing gets

just watched hicky beat dunlop on the superstocks, mind bending

  14. He's certainly happier after the Supertwins.
Do he and Mike Browne not get on?
A handshake on the podium coming from MD was all I saw. In fact it looked like MB was avoiding MD?

  16. i am very very jealous now, been here before both times in a car, and i can now see what amazing riding roads these are (and driving but less so)

they are just a bit wider than where i live, much longer straight bits where you can get a move on and some beautiful sweeping bends, all though villages, forest and mountains, its like some out of thomas the tank engine (the old non CGI crap).

i just cannot muster the balls to bring a panigale from london, by bringing the car it's a more comfy time, guy next to me yesterday was sat on a plant pot in his leathers wanting to nick a deck chair. Was a bit embarrassed about washing the M&S fried chicken down with ice cold coke

formulating a plan to drive up in the van with a couple of bikes in the back, riding this place is now top on the bucket list now, not missed the bike like this before

  17. So Peter pulls one back with a convinCing win, i'm just wondering if that malfunctioning quick-shifter cost him the race the other day or MD was the better rider on the day regardless of problems.

  18. Been great so far this week. Saturday racing watched from the church at Union mills, Sunday from barregarrow crossroads, Tuesday from glen duff and today is Sarah's cottage.

  19. Think the issue with front end chatter and his brakes pads pushing back making him pump the front brake made him lose more time, added to that having issues with the quick shifter resulted in him not been able to push. Back on the stocker and he's 20sec + after x3 laps says everything to me..
