  1. When I was working professionally as an adviser, I often noticed how the really clever, top guys often ask for advice, consider it carefully, and follow it unless there's a good reason not to. Then there are other guys who don't seek advice, refuse to consider it when offered, and do the opposite for no reason at all. I wonder which category you consider yourself to be, JG?

  2. so what do you suggest Pete?

  3. I suspect his weight may be part of the issue, along with spirited riding, but lighter springs and better working suspicion is the right resolution

  4. The damper will only mask the set up problem, not cure what's really wrong.

  5. As said the OP probably wants to keep the set up factory for when it comes to sale time.

Of course adjustable suspension can be adjusted. Not sure how much adjustment you get with base model.Probably a fair bit more adjustable on S & R models running ohlins suspension.Maybe more with ohlins r&t.

Trouble is if stock suspension can only be adjusted so far I cant see this being enough for a 9 stone rider.Im no expert but I take it you are then into changing fork springs ,rear shock spring and maybe other internal fork and shock parts. Then you have a bike no good for any bugger other than 9 stone rider.

If I turned up to buy a bike secondhand and guy had all the above changed and he was 9 stone or 17 stone id walk away as it would be useless for me.Unless they went to the effort to put it all back to stock factory settings.

Hopefully the ohlins damper will sort this otherwise it find some better roads or contact someone like K-Tech etc etc.

  6. Matt, standard suspension is adjustable and should be adjusted for each rider. Not doing so is very lazy and ignorant.

  7. Yep but will the standard suspension on base model be adjustable enough considering OP is 9 stone without changing springs and internals.

I reckon if damper doesn't work another route is go on a binge of kebabs, kfc and mc donalds for a while. That should soon put three stone in weight on the OP lol.;)

  8. Just stop riding like a cock. That should do the trick. :)

You have not been charged for this advice :)

  11. is the shock ok ? there have been probs with forks ?

  12. Slappers slappers slappers... :)

  13. I run OEM damper on both my ducati's. Ive had the suspension set up on both. Plus Ive set my body position etc, with rear sets too. I figure that if my bike is slapping its head then something is wrong.

  14. I ve had plenty problem with slappers , but only female kind .

  15. Not sure the OP is willing to take the advice offered by many on here. I'm a little under 70 kg and nine Ducatis later I still have to setup the suspension to suit my weight, as fresh out the crate they are way too hard for me which should hardly come as a surprise as the factory generally set them up for a middle of the road 12 stone rider. It's not an ordeal to adjust or re-spring the bike to suit and is money well spent as opposed to trying to gloss over the underlying cause of the problem by citing it as an issue with the steering damper. The fact that this is a common issue with all the OP's bikes would suggest the damper is not the culprit here.

  16. OP is a nine stone cock

  17. Cost less to respring and set up than an ohlins damper.

  18. :)
