This is more like it... Can I ask why you've gone (what some would say) backwards? My fear is that if you go new and have all the rider aids, a degree of control is lost, so the experience is a bit blunted...
As others have said here these bikes are keepers. I think you'll regret quickly if you let her go. Defo do those mods or save for another bike for alternative riding options. Ideally everyone should strive to own a 999, 1098/1198 and a Pani, before it all goes V4.
I have been riding on the road since I was 16, thats 36yrs ago I never had no rider aids back then. My streetfighter has TC which I can live without as seriously if you dont want the arse end kicking out dont twist the throttle so much coming out of bends and roundabouts, once I got the hang of ABS I found myslef braking harder than I should and on loose stone when seriously you shouldnt be touching the brakes in the first place and all because I could very silly. The only thing I missing is the Quick shifter but recently talking to some friends and they all say you can shift without the clutch just back the throttle of a tad and knock the gear lever up. Well I tried that today on both the Streetfighter and the 1198 and works wel enough. Why have I gone backwards!!! I dont feel that I have I am now riding something that I have total control over so I am riding based on my ability not the bikes ability oh and I much prefer the look of the trellis frame and under seat exhaust and I don't get nowhere near as much heat from the older bike as I did the panigale.
i must admit i had a brown trouser moment on the 1198 earlier and tc would have been handy but it was my own fault (new tyres and to much throttle).
Tut tut tut, but you are so right it was your own bloody fault Before I had TC I was always bit more sensible about how hard I twisted that grip coming out of bends ad exiting roundabouts When I had TC I found myself abusing the throttle on a regular basis Same with ABS prior to having it I would brake at the apropriate moment and only as hard as necessary Once I had ABS I abused that breaking harder and at inapropriate places like in bends. The only problem with having rider aids that you rely on is what happens when it fails on you at the wrong moment.
