I had sticky throttle on my 907(probably the same). After mucking around with cable for an hour it was the throttle casing clamping up on the twistgrip too tight. I put a thin washer between the two halves of the casing on 1 of the screws and it was ok. Bit of a bodge but it works.
The rubber twistgrip cover can also expand a bit, so that it can touch the twistgrip / cable housing, which causes the same effect. AL
Invaluable info, thanks guys, can't thank you enough.Lots of jobs to do on it yet, brakes,a good service, belts, fork seals etc.......but i didn't pay a lot for the bike and it's clean enough and i can most of the work myself, biggest problem is i think the previous owner was a bit ham fisted as everything is either over tightened or rounded off!!
Problem solved!!,i now have a Ducati where the throttle has no longer got a mind of it's own,i put it all back together and it was sticking, slackened the bar end off and hey presto, normal throttle!!,twistgrip was rubbing on the bar end, well chuffed it's sorted, new rectifier going on it tomorrow and a good charge of the battery and hopefully i'll be nearly ready for an mot, can't wait to get out on it. I need to replace the end can on it for the mot as it's blowing, and fancy a noisy can (road legal of course wink wink) anyone got any recommendations? Thanks again guys
If you are fitting an Electrex RR51 instead of OEM reg/rec and have any queries about which wires do which (or rather which ones you are left with and where they go....Electrex wiring diagram not brilliant).see below. AL
You know as well as I do, the red one is the Circle...........but there is a problem at Liverpool Plug.
