  1. That's really shIt mate! There are some turds around, hope it gets sorted!
I have an issue with ebay right now. Paid cash (quite a lot) for an engine and now the seller has raised an unpaid case against me, clearly he is simply trying to avoid final sale fees. Of course ebay won't step in and sort it!

  2. Did you pay cash or are you covered by credit card or paypal insurance?

  3. I think more info is needed regarding this someone, from this forum, from what you have said it does seem like a scam! I was suspicious when you first mentioned it had been damaged by the courier. Has the seller been a member of the forum long and how many posts has he made.
I really hope things end well for you.
    Steve

  4. Obviously we are not privy to the full details here but I’d ask who organised the delivery of the engine, because in my opinion it is up to them to be dealing with the courier company regarding compensation for the damage.

Where is the dropped engine now, who has it? How damaged is it?

My experiences of courier companies are that they don't take much responsibility for items, how was it packaged?

  5. Did you not meet the seller, see the engine, get the courrier & shipping number details or verify any of the sellers details before putting lots of money into someones' account?

No doubt he's working offshore or on holiday in the Shetland Isles, so can't sort the refund out.

You're not the first and won't be the last.

    You have my sympathies.

  6. He called following my ad as a forum member, we agreed on a cost including arranging a courier to me (based 300 odd miles darn sarf).
To be fair, I would not arrange a courier without having payment in the bank either, hence seeming like a legit transfer (plus this is how most sales are agreed).
He is still in comms but struggling to give me the refund info I need, eta, reference number etc. I feel stupid tbh.

Buyer beware, never buy off spec, banks are useless too...

  7. Good sign there are still comms...

  8. It was apparently damaged at his end, hence him offering to refund me straight away, its just not happened.
This was due to him having to make a claim which seems plausable against the courier.
I am trying to get his username as he called me after just preparing to list the engine along with some other Duc parts....

  9. Have you actually spoken to him on the phone or all via email

At this stage it all could be legit or it could be delay tack tics

I would say if it is legit what is damage to engine as could you take it for a discount, cases can be welded

  10. All on the phone as per my posts. I would never consider it on email!

  11. Update: Well, not really, no refund and the number now goes straight to answer phone (no surprise)

The annoying thing is that I have his bank account details but no-one seems to be able to do anything about it - You would have thought that you could contact the bank and report it for dodgy activity, but no, that would be too useful!

The question is do I post his number across forums to warn others or is it likely to be a PAYG sim that will make no difference?

So, the project is on hold for now. Bugger

  12. Do a reverse search on his phone number if you can, just tap the number into Google you would be surprised what it might come up with.

Try a name search on Google also and even 192.com. They might all be ways of tracking him down if he has done this before.

Check the scam forums and see if he is flagged anywhere. You could also try asking on 419 eater.com to see what advice they can offer. This is a scam busting site that can often advise you.

    Good Luck.

  13. You would have thought you could talk to a bank fraud department, don't know how lucky you would be

As communacation has stopped id even go to the police, doubt you will get very far with them but sometimes they appear interested and actual do a little detecting, but go to both bank and police with all details you have and see how you get on, they might freeze his account who knows

  14. Wise works my friend, but already all over that.
My Bank (Braclays) won't get involved because I voluntarily made the transfer. Despite me stating that the twats account was also Barclay's and that it was being used for fraudulent activities, their fraud team were not interested!!!
The Police were unable to support but I have reported it on the Action Fraud website for a crime number so only hope is if he has done it before using the account and they are prepared to investigate further.
No one will give out any personal data due to data protection....

I want to know where he lives so 1) I can drive down and twat him and 2) Shit on his carpet........

Thanks for the ideas tho chaps, gratefully appreciated :upyeah:

  15. It sounds like you have tried everything you can legally do, typical law is on the side of the robbing toad

Spose there's lots of things you could do but this would probably get you more in trouble with the law than the situation deserves

I'm a great believer in Karma what goes around comes around, so take comfort in the fact that soon he will experience an injustice done to him and lets hope it bloody hurts

I also don't see there being any problem in you writing a line on any forum with the guys name and phone number simply stating i have not received my engine despite sending you the payment of £xxx can you please contact me as the number i have does not appear to work can you advise when you would return my money or send the engine

The over one is citzens advise they probably could advise on small claims court proceedings against him
