748/999 Build

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by Russ21, Oct 20, 2019.

  1. They were for a race series but didn't get used.

  2. I’m saying they are official brembo

  3. Not much happening at the moment. I'm waiting on a few parts to arrive, which is all the hardware for the oil cooler pipes, RH 999 switch gear and a 749/999 dash.

It's looking like I may be very close to getting this bike running. Im pretty much just a radiator and a belt service away from turning the bike over.

The next job on the list though is to 3D print an adaptor bracket for the 749/999 clocks to mount to the original 748 dash/clocks fixing points.

@Nostromo has helped me out massively with quite a few 999 bits. Everything that's arrived has been great quality. Thanks again :upyeah::)

  4. So are the carriers without the brembo mark , brembo or copies....

  5. too difficult box?

  6. That's not very nice.

You ask all the questions about them on here, we give you answers but you won't share your findings.

To name a boyband, it's a bit one direction...

  7. You could of just said no they are not genuine brembo.... been much easier...ffs

  8. Mode sold their own centres with Brembo rotors, they came in a posh Brembo padded box too.

Supersport hpk rotors, with Mode made carriers. They commissioned 20 sets for a South African race series that didn't go ahead.
They were sold with part number 208973711S

    They were £330+VAT.

Here are a couple of pics of said set of discs..

    Might have a receipt somewhere.

  11. Dash arrived yesterday. Mega happy with it. That's the last piece of the 999 electrics sorted. So now in theory the bike should start (once installed obviously lol)

Spent a bit of time cutting the glass back and polishing for a bit of extra clarity (didnt really need it, but did it anyway).

I've been making templates for the dash bracket and playing with possible final positions on the bike.

    Hopfully have it mounted soon.

  12. What are these shut brakes you speak of, sound niche and expensive.

  14. Whoa ....you know how to insult I’ll be all the c words under the sun but DSC.... that hurts!:joy::joy:

  15. Lets all be friends shall we, and not argue about the small things. It's really not worth it...:)

Mocked up the dash with the fairing on, the dash was proud of the screen by a good inch, meaning the dash had to be brought down a fair bit. Ended up cutting away the carbon headlight bucket for the dash to sit nicely within the fairing. Now back to the drawing board for these brackets...

Before everything goes back together, I'll reinforce the bucket fixing points with some ally plate, just for piece of mind really. Considering the material that's been cut away, its surprisingly still very rigid.

  18. Mounting brackets made and bonded in to the head light bucket for the 999 dash fixing points. Used aluminium sheet for the brackets (didn't go down the 3d printing route this time) which were bonded in place then skinned with CF. Used rubber mounts for the dash to help eliminate vibration.
I found the CF round the original head stock mounting point very weak on the headlight bucket, so beefed the sides up with a few layers of CF sheet and re-drilled the fixing holes. Its now much more solid.

Next on the list is to get the thing serviced (inc belts) and started...

  20. Spent some time threading the 999 loom through the 999 battery box and getting the ECU etc mounted. Had some help from the 999 guys on this forum. Which made things 100% easier. Going in blind would of been almost impossible. Need to order some new battery cables, starter solenoid, then it can all go on the bike.
