no real drama, but obviously its impossible to keep the mirror shine that the polishers put on em.. ive tried with dremel and different mops but ive not got the knack... they still look good though. one day i will get some bst's or forged 5 spokes but the budget was well blown at the time and other bikes have got in the way since...
@Russell What do you intend to do re. Airbox and throttle bodies? Back to 998 std style or something different? I guess the wiring might need looking at also.
Im thinking about going back to 998 Airbox and throttle bodies, or 1098 TB’s with manifold adaptors. It’s pretty hard finding 998 TB’s

these third ones for sale make the American ones look cheap.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORPO-FA...002087?hash=item3fc14d34a7:g:TckAAOxygPtS5h6P
Brilliant, thanks . I spoke briefly to the seller in Italy last night. He said they’re not complete. Wonder why the last set are soo expensive?!? sorry for the questions, This is new to me and I’m learning as I go. I find resto work pretty easy, however I’ve not got involved with engine work of this scale before. Trying to piece together what will work and what has been done before I took the project on is a bit of a headache.
Id go for the American one......even if you pay tax it'll be a good price. ive had stuff from that seller before and they are fine. these would be the easiest fix for you with the 999 trumpets... a 998 carbon air box. There is also a round seal that needs to go at the base of the body to seal the airbox.
998 stuff is a good shout. Makes it much easier. 1098 tb will be a good upgrade in the future, if you feel that way inclined. Then who knows an 1198 conversion could be in the future!
Brilliant, thanks. I’ll go for the set in the US. I’ll see about buying a carbon airbox too and keep an eye out for the seal
was that airbox from speed carbon on that build? I was going to ask if they could make one like that.
Speed Carbon Italy? Ok cool, I’ll have a look on the site and get one ordered that’s a superb looking build. If mine looks half as good when it’s done, I’ll be very happy
