  3. 998 throttle bodies and carbon 998 airbox bought today. Just hoarding parts till I’m in a position to start putting things back together

  4. How’s the air box gasket holding up, looks serviceable? Had to replace mine as the about 6 of the fixing bungs had perished and failed.

  5. It’s not perfect, but will do for now. Once I’m home I’ll get some decent pics up

  6. Massive thanks to Jon for the FG335 Ohlins forks. Over the moon with them. As described (new old stock and unfitted), and a big thanks to Betts for bringing them down south for me.

Both top blokes for helping me out. Some good eggs on this forum :grinning::upyeah::upyeah:

  7. Are they from a 999R?

  8. They are yes 749/999R

  9. Not 749 tho..

  10. Came in the original box. Box says 749-999R

  11. Same part number on the Ducati Parts Fiche too

  12. 749R forks have the 5mm caliper spacers, so the caliper posts on the forks are shorter.

  13. Essentially the same form then, minus the spacer. Didn’t know the 749R ran bigger discs.

  14. They don't
The different forks have the same overall length. 999R longer posts = 749R short posts with 5mm spacer.

It was all to do with homolgation for racing.

  15. Ah ok. Weird they’re the same part number then.
Guessing they ran the forks like that to fit bigger discs when racing. Can’t see any other logical reason.

  16. I believe it was the ability to use smaller discs.

  17. Smaller? I’ll have a look in to that.

  18. If they wanted to use bigger than std discs, they wouldve put spacers on 999r forks.

Removing spacers from the 749r forks, allowed smaller discs.

  19. I Understand that. Just don’t see why they would. I’ve not come across a race team reducing the size of the front discs to go racing.

  20. They commonly used 290mm discs for wet setups in racing, even on the WSBK superbikes of that era.
