Current short list. Yellow y2k 748r, 9k miles and not used for 2 years. Looks original and untouched. asking price 5800 1997 916 SPS on ebay, this looks good but at 30k miles already. How well do these engines hold up to big mileage? asking price 8k 2001 998r, its is in germany though. Doesn't have carbon intake tubes, did the 996r differ between different markets? asking price 12k 1994 916sp mentioned earlier, on ebay as well. however dvla says its 1995, and is the tail correct on that one? Also no numbered plaque. I assume Ducati in the UK could confirm what it is? asking price 7k At work and it's very boring. I might buy a bike today..
Take the sps but offer 5k as its way over price and with the extra 2k you can get the engine rebuilt and ready for another 30k miles. Plus its the best Ducati ever
I wouldn't touch the 916's. I just think they are too old now, unless u have the money to rebuild; sort the wiring etc out! Wait for me to get flamed but tbh I really believe the 748r represents a better all round bike
I think it's the favourite actually Yes good spread of prices, but the brief has changed to any 916 shaped ducati. Not too bothered which model but these all feel special. That's the most important thing. The 748 would probably be joined by a NSR250 mc21, where as the 996 would have to live on it's own.
I think any of these bikes will need a good going over, if nothing else but for peace of mind as they are all getting on a bit. But I will do that myself so it's only parts I will pay for and I don't mind that. I can't see this bike ever get sold so it makes sense to do any work myself.
what about this: DUCATI 748 748 cc 748 R ** STUNNING 748 R ** Okay so it's more money but it's pristine by my eye? Also.. please don't sell the NSR250, please keep it! I sold my Aprilia RS250 (Regianni rep) 2 years ago and have regretted it ever since.
I know I'm probably on my own here, but I actually prefer a yellow one with showa.. I don't have a NSR but what I meant was there would be money for one of those as well.. (I do have a honda 250 though, the RS gp bike. it's incredible) I also had one of those Aprilias, a y2k Rossi replica that got stolen Also raced one of those a few years back, lovely bikes but they are all getting expensive!!
Yep, 2-strokes are now getting silly money-wise. They won't go much higher I don't think. Clean ones are 6k, race bikes far more. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the Showa '748R' and u could spend the £1000 getting it tip top. I just wouldn't go for the 916 myself.
250 GP bike? Bet thats fun. Chatting to a guy at Odiham this year with one. Light as a feather and if its not functional, its not fitted!
This isn't the one you looked at is it? DUCATI 748 748 cc 748 R superb condition low miles I don't think this is a real 'R'. I thought the 'R' had a carbon Airbox (maybe later ones) and also I thought that the 'R' had Showa Front/Ohlins Rear shock and then full Ohlins on later bikes. Plus I thought it had flat 'Forged' Marchesini's, although I am least confident about this.
Ah it is, I was out on a couple of details. That's actually the only one I (well a mate of mine) have been to look at. It's not an R? Now you mention it, I am sure the ad has changed from last time it was on ebay.
Could be entirely wrong, often am, but thought all shipped with ohlins rear. Tbh it just doesnt look 'right'. Get the chassis and engine number and email ducati, they are normally pretty good at responding
See would appear I was wrong, not all shipped with ohlins rear Ducati 748 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia huge money for a non ohlins bike tho imo
