Then has he used a later wheel as I think the discs were spaced further apart on the later models . Picture is difficult to see but discs look forced into pads . Or is the offset on the disc right . I.E. radial disc fitted to non radial calipers .
Think the R discs were 15mm offset and the standard were 10mm 0ffset . Might be wrong though. Wheels in the R were forged not cast this could be the reason for different offset discs . I might be getting mixed up with the 996 disc offset but one of them has a 10mm offset opposed to the 15mm offset . something's amiss though .
R disc offset is same as the other 749/999 non-R models. Forged R wheels have same geometry as cast ally wheels. Therefore the wheels and discs should be fine whether fitted to an R or non-R. Basically: Install axle and torque axle nut to correct torque. Fit callipers Bounce up and down to align axle and callipers Tighten pinch bolts As long as spacers are correctly installed, it should all line up.
Is it the same axle that was fitted when you had the off, could it be slightly bent, this could explain the misalignment. I had a very low speed of, just slid down the road and didn't hit anything and it buckled the front wheel and bent the axle, I had the wheel straightened and didn't notice the slight bend in the axle until I tried to turn the wheel,it bound on the callipers. Hi chaps, sorry for the late reply ive been busy with work and doing my acu licence, So i basically i my front master cyclinder failed at the end of donny start finish straight 2 odd years ago. The bike his the floor but didnt flip just slid along way. I didnt notice any front wheel problem when moving the bike or spinning the wheel on the stand. Im still completely miffed as to whats going on. i might just run it down to the local bike shop in flitwick to see if they can make any sence of it . Thanks for all the advice and thoughts though. Let you know how i get on
My bike didn't hit anything, it only slid a few yards, if the axle was slightly bent the wheel would still spin freely but would be slightly of center only noticeable when you offer up the calipers. If you loosen the pinch bolts and turn the axle you should notice the wheel move sideways if the axle is bent.
