  2. There are 2 quick release connectors under the tank. You need to just squeeze the notched section of the plastic clip that you will see when you lift up the tank 6" or so with the tips of your index finger and thumb, and gently pull the connector downwards.
( I put a piece of 4" X 2" block of wood under the rear of the tank to hold it up)

Worth putting some old towel or similar under the tank to collect the inevitable few drops of petrol.

Don't forget to disconnect the electrical connector block under the tank, then pull the 2 vent tubes off the front of the tank and withdraw the tank from the 2 location dowels, easy!

  4. good news, there are sparks on both vertical and horizontal coils with the new plugs, im not even gonna try it with the old plugs, il keep them aside for now and use the new ones. shall i leave it overnight for the plug holes to dry? or just put everything back in and fire it up?

  5. Stick them in, make sure there are no fuel leaks from the connectors if you have had them off and hit the starter.

    Good luck, rooting for you.

You will smile when you finally hear it with that pipe on :)

  9. I think the twin cans looks pretty cool.
The single can on the 999 et al wasn't the most aesthetic thing Ducati have ever made. The silvery ones are frankly, a bit hideous.

  10. Agree with you about the weedy looking standard exhaust. But it just seems hard to get those twin pipes to line up correctly.

Mind you, I have CDO. It's like OCD but with the letters in the right order...

  11. thansk guys for all your help! i decided to use the old plugs... because for some reason the electrode length on the new ones are a tad shorter, and my deep socket couldnt tighten them all the way... but i took a blow torch on the old ones and wire brushed them all up, put them in, and fired it up, it started first time! :O.... you should have seen the smile on my face! haha the noise!..... i had to turn the bike off after 2 seconds because neighbours would not be happy... tomorrow morning... im gonna have some real fun!

on the side note, my cans seem to allign a lot better than the one on here...

  16. Hi.
New to the forum and only now reading this thread and I must say well done for sticking with it and it has been an enjoyable read/story and I bet you do feel a big sense of achievement now, mind you I would of been tempted to open the wallet and let someone do it for me (at a cost) but you living where you do with no trailer needs must I suppose.
    Again well done.
    Guvs.

  17. thanks man! :)

i always try to do things myself to save some costs.
prior to owning this 749, i had a Honda VFR 400 NC30 and its been nothig but problems. i did everything on that bike myself, in fact im quite... "famous" on 400greybike.com. if you mention "xivlia" or "ersan" pretty much everyone knows me for being the most unlucky person, to have an nc30 with endless problems. in fact i have a thread just dedicated to me and my problems. and its 150 odd pages long  and every problem thats known on the nc30 is covered on that so they made it a sticky LOL!
