749 not a fan of neutral

  1. Thanks bud. Clutch is ok at the moment, decided to give it a week and see how it is. I think the first time bled, I didn't get all of the air out of the master reservoir, but I spent a good 15mins doing the other day. Going for a few rides this weekend and will keep an eye on it. You provided very useful info! :upyeah:

@Nog: Cheers mate, will see how it goes and let you know.

  2. The saga continues! Got into work and the clutch was gritty again and I could feel neutral being pissy. So went about bleeding again this afto and when I opened the cover there was no fluid left. So looked around for a leak and it just under the slave and on the engine there was bubbling paint, bit of fluid there too. Gutted as it's ruined the paint there.

So, it means I'm after a slave cylinder. Will this finally solve my issue as when I first experienced the problem, there didn't appear to be a leak? Any recommendations for new cylinders?

  3. Oberon are a popular after market choice. Reduce arm pump also...:upyeah:
Pretty sure I have a standard one somewhere if you decide to go that route.

  4. The pull has been fairly light for me, even when fully bled. Makes me wonder if I have other issues

  5. Could the clutch be light as the slave was leaking (releasing the pressure etc)?

  6. Spoke to Wandsworth dealer, good ol' Dave, and he reckons that it' s the push rod bearing that needs replacing along with a new slave. Total cost £140. That man anything to anyone?

  7. I feel your pain mate as I've probably experienced everything you are experiencing right now! To check the said bearing just whip the pressure plate off and spin it on your finger a bit. If it grinds at all then replace it. They're only about a tenner off e bay and easy enough to press / bash out.

Once that's sorted find a slave and replace that. It'll cost way less than £140. I don't find the standard slave too heavy tbh. I have got an MPL one in stock that I previously used until it leaked and I sent it back. On the basis that I'm not having to bleed my current one I've left it alone. Remember you can normally make an offer to MPL. About 80 quid normally gets you one.

  8. Is the MPL as good as the Oberon?

  9. I only have experience of the Oberon, but over the years I've seen the MPL one rated just as highly. I'd say you won't go wrong with either.

  10. Thanks! I think I'm going for Oberon, they dispatch same day.
