Well totally disappointed, after seeing plenty of pics and talking to the shop, i decided to go and get the bike, and planed the 400 mile round trip. Got there and bike looked good from a few paces back. However ! on closer inspection it was filthy had corrosion/rust all over and looked like it had spent the last 10 year sat out side in all weathers with no cover. Scratches and marks every where.. It had only done 7k. but looked like it had done 30+ service book had the stamp, and a written comment saying belts done at 6800mls ? No other receipts for work. It had only one key, log book said it was Yellow, but bike on show was red ? so had a sad ride home :-(
That must be so annoying! It's amazing how people's opinion on the condition of a bike can be so different. Pity you can't claim for the fuel you've wasted!
never mind all this jap / Italian crap... ( some people are full of shit, as you can see even on here )... I am really sorry to read of your trials and tribulations mate,, I think that I / ( we ) know how shit you are feeling now . WTF,,, did you not ask the relevant q. did you not get detailed photo,,,can you post a link on here to the bike,, was it " too good to be true "...,WTF,,,, mate,, I just done over 1k miles ret. and got myself a perfect S model,,, so sorry mate,, we all ( I hope ) feel your disappointment.......Rod
Sorry mate hadn't got as far as your post about seeing bike up close, That really is pretty shit and I feel your pain, Bought a pocket rocket years ago zxr 400 looked mint but so many mechanical problems with it. I've never bought a 2nd hand bike since.
Don't be disappointed - you made the right decision. There are plenty 749s/999s out there but clean ones are quite hard to come by. Great bike though - keep looking for a clean-ish (or at least an honest and regularly-serviced) example and it will be worth the wait
My local Ducati dealer is ProTwins in the surrey area, they have a few older models in stock I was in there Thursday last week. They all look in mint condition and they would probably deliver Pro Twins - Homepage They dont state on their website what used bikes they have though, but might be worth a call. I know they had a 749 dark in there
Ahhhhh they do have a used bike section, click on show room, then in the left hand menu click superbike, at the bottom of the list it says used superbikes
I've owned a 749s and a 999. The 749s was the best bike I ever owned. Enough power for the road, revvy (for a twin) and so composed once leaned over.
Sorry to hear of your wasted journey - what a bummer to get there to find it was a complete shed. Keep looking and you'll find one I'm sure.
