749R - remap or powercommander?

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by testingtesting, Aug 1, 2013.

  1. I have a pc111 on my 999R but would like to have custom maps done on the ECU . I would like to go to CJS but its a long haul for me . Anyone know of a more northern tune shop that does as good a job. I do have the racing ecu fitted but it was last on the dyno in 2008 . Still feels good but it could be way out.

  2. It is possible to stay very close by as there is a good pub with accommodation literally up the road. I did that as it was too much to do in one day and it made the stay more pleasant as I didn't have to hang around all day waiting for it to be finished. It's not a 5 minute job if there is a lot of mapping to do.

  3. Where are you based?

  4. Im in Durham . Dont mind riding 150 miles or so just that bit far too Bristol . Might have to be a night out as Red suggests . Almost a 600 mile round trip for me to go to Bristol though.

  5. Yes, a long way. Are you happy with your fueling as it is? Whats the A/F ratio like?

  6. Im near Durham as well, and did the round trip. Well worth it and a good night out in the pub

  7. BSD performance for me as well.

Standard 749r with 57mm banana system, felt ok, but, a few "low points" when accelerating. Had PC iii fitted and custom map for each cylinder done at BSD.

Power went up from 114 pre rolling road, to 124bhp at the back wheel after rolling road.

To be honest, the 10bhp extra was not that noticeable on a typical road test, but, the extra torque, and smooth acceleration from tick over to red line was very noticeable.

Never had a PC on a bike before, but, this was an eye opener for me, make the bike much smoother to ride once it had been set up right.

  8. It's on my list of things todo but need a big service first! Motorapdio can also do a dyno setup to ECU...
