Gates 'technical' tell me that all belts should have some tension when cold...........but what surprises me is how tight the belts get when the engine is hot, despite doing the 5mm / 6mm allen key method.
cheers al i was suprised how tight the belts got when engine was warmed up was going to take it for a run today but weather is a bit wet and horrible here well at least my sanity is having a reprieve
okay guys been and had a chat with the guys at italia moto today about a few bits on the bike asking about valve clearances bits and bobs mentioned about the miss fire and firing back up through the throttle bodies suggestion is possibility wear in the bottom end of the engine that throws out the timing for the sensor bad news if it is its an engine split asked of i had checked sump plug for particles ......answer yes it looked like a christmas tree when changed the oil had read on here where other people had similar......... suggestion was it was gearbox particles not loads to worry about turns out it might be something to worry about if it is what is suggested looks like it might be another engine........ well have half expected this from the beginning but not for this reason so lets see what happens lol
Mine doesn't have a sensor but I had experienced problems not dis-similar to yours....... .....however, one thing that might be worth checking on yours are the pick-ups which can partially fail, but also, one could have loosened a bit.......which would give you the misfires etc.
well hopefully i will get to the bottom of it eventually and it might serve as usefull info for the future lol
well bit the bullet on friday and bought another engine need to clean it up a bit and sort service parts and wait for some good weather ................oh that would be today ..........but not with a hang over
no not dropping a 900 motor in keeping it as a 750 still at the moment will be happy just to get it running
so spent a couple of hours on sunday cleaning up the engine ready to be fitted into the bike already checked that bolts and things on the bike will come undone got the exhaust off and no broken studs whoo already got some new copper coated exhaust nuts air box removed and cleaned and so far only issue with new engine was oil cooler mounts the rubbers had broken away and left the threaded section in the rocker cover hah so out came the molegrips lol out came first one easy ........second one made of cheese snapped straight away of with the cover and in work today drilled and tapped sorted just hope the swingarm goes as easy lol :Wacky: whoa dude loads of new smilies
so a busy day nipped up to moto italia to pick up new oil cooler mounts and an oil filter for new engine getting quite regular first name terms with terry now lol so back home and continued to strip the bike did pretty well dismantled and engine out ready for new engine in everything came undone fair easy including the swingarm spindle which was well lubricated
nothing like your stands al honest :Angelic: anyway mine are metal not wood and red ..........err see nuthin like officer borrowed from work aswell
My rear one is green and angle iron.................just 'cos you had red paint left over is no excuse
okay guys engine in running gear back on no major issues but found an inlet rubber on new engine had a split in it oh joy spanner does not fit on cant get a socket on bah so out with the angle grinder to thin out the ring end of an old spanner whoo job done but then find one nut on the old engine for the inlet is rounded off rats hacksaw and chisel job done so just need some fuel hose clamps as old fixings look well crap just small jobs like airbox and exhaust to put on then oil and filter to do took a piccy hope to get it on later
right slightly better thats me anyway probably the schnaps so anyway got to start the bike tonight battery on and away we go checked i hadnt left any thing off no so hit the start button (or the magical noise button that the fairys work behind) couple of coughs .......okay press button again whoo noise it runs then notice the oil pressure light hasnt gone out argh stop engine quick check round no leaks check level gone down a bit but not a lot so top up anyway try again starts up on the button light not out and engine sounds uneven so try a little revs to see if that brings pressure up to kill the light whoo it goes out well for about minute so after investigation oil pressure switch was dud good job i had a new one on the other engine so light stays out when it should right a bit braver on the revs uneven running clears with a bit of high tickover revs quite freely sounds a lot better engine than the old one then went back to running rough so swapped spark plugs .......................nope tryed my spare coil no difference at first then started running better with spare coil on back cylinder so swapped coil back still running fine revs lovely just had to up tickover then things got interesting sounded rough again when warmer not missfire just rough and when revved flames out of the exhaust but not on the overrun well thats a new one it did smell rather rich think it could be over fuelling ? so tryed revving a couple of times see if it cleared nah it did stall at one point and after it had stopped the right hand exhaust was on fire .................funky .not upshot the bike seems to be overfueling loads and chucking loads of unburnt fuel into the exhausts more alcahol :Mooning:
crack it i have a sledge hammer ill feckin smash it on the upside i have a working neutral light now old engine switch was removed wow easily pleased me
