not finished that yet about 50% there just thought I would get the clutch sorted as the super sausage is looming also need to do an oil and filter change beforehand hoping to have oil cooler guard sorted before then attention span is a b..............ooh a squirrel :Watching:
well got round to a bit servicing oil and filters etc also fitted a replacement air filter lid clip and pin what a crap design for holding the pin in place no wonder I had one missing and that moto italia at Lincoln keep them on stock
well as promised progress on the squirrel I mean oil cooler guard main cover fabricated just got to get some brackets made got some cleaning to do so far after spot welding together
not really thought of colour as its all stainless did you need some stainless mesh as I still have a bit left lol
well looking at dakks thread I am not the only one with issues with the bike after sundays trip to the super sausage all ran fine there and back just to prove my mates lad wrong as he was just waiting for it to brake down in true ducati fashion hah ....... but .......noticed Monday a spot of oil on the ground under the bike not a lot but oil non the less inspection first found the side stand mount and sprocket cover wet with oil first thoughts were clutch pushrod seal or gearbox output shaft seal gone .............. so got to have a look tonight when I got home from work cleaned of the area with carb cleaner to get rid of some of the muck and oil but push rod was dry as was the output shaft seal ...so with the lack of big hole in the engine case head scratching began so with a quick check found a few of the bolts holding the side casing on were loose not much but just enough luckily top right of casing below oil level so therefore just weeping when engine running so nipped up for now and see if that cures it lol might take the casing off at some point to paint it and will seal it properly my aren't these bikes fun lol
well the bike is keeping me on my toes had a ride out to cadwell at the weekend to the practical sportsbike mag trackday to spectate and have a gander round the paddock nice day ........... but the bike has developed an odd squeak but only after 10 minutes odd of riding only get the noise when doing steady speed around 30 to 40 mph but disappears if accelerating or decelerating sounds like a dry bearing new front wheel bearings were fitted last year rear wheel bearings seemed ok when I had the wheel out to paint and sort brake so back wheel out and checked bearings looks like the bearing in sprocket carrier could do with changing so going to start there wheel bearings look ok still and then onto the front only other thing I could think of was the chain but looks ok well it keeps me busy lol
well new bearings in the sprocket carrier outer one was definitely worn and water had got in but inner one was not too bad but replaced both anyway all back together now just got to get it out and see if it still squeaks lol
well used the bike for work today and had a little jolly taking the long way home so far squeak free whoo
oh yeah ........er oil cooler guard been to bust riding the bike the guard is still half done and sat next to my computer doh :Banghead:
well nice weather and not a lot to do so made myself busy having a look at the dim headlight situation checking voltage it seems I am about 1 volt down at the headlight compared to the battery also thought had better change the headlight socket as it seems to of got a little warm so while I was in there I decided to wire a relay in for direct feed to the headlight also a new headlight bulb for good measure all went well until checked operation of headlight no high beam ....?? turns out the new bulb was dodgy good job I had a pack of two so everything seems to work and it looks a bit brighter jus need to take it in the dark and see only other thing does anyone how to adjust the beam up down etc want to check allignment
well had a good ride out yesterday and the damn squeak is back definatly sounds like a dry bearing and maybe a little rumbly had the front and back wheels up in the air today both seem to run smooth couldn't take the front wheel out as my paddock stand is shite when lifting front end up you cannot remove the spindle as brackets get in the way bah oh well looks like I will have to take the fairing off and put a bar through the frame and lift it like that works quite well though lol
You in Grimsby then? I am in Hull. We should have a ride down to Cadwell. I like that road that capproaches the circuit on its Eastern side.
well a bit of thinking and a chat with fire 3500 aka ian I now have a set of low level silencers for the bike looks like the plan to reinstate the pillion on the bike is going ahead just need some more parts and a bit of inclination whoo
If you make your stand like mine (you will find it somewhere on this forum) you don't need to take the fairing off to put the bar through the frame............ .........I even swapped my forks over while the fairing was still on.
And as mentioned, welcome to borrow my front stand with pins. No problem getting the wheel out with that in place...
