  1. Did it get though the MOT without the front mud guard?

  2. well spotted fitted after I took pics lol realised last minute

  3. so update ben running the bike a bit to put some miles on it while the weather isn't to bad
had to bite the bullet and buy a new battery as old one not really holding charge
so new motobatt fitted today starts much better but ahh the but noticed wiring wet under the tank
perplexed how water had got under the tank onto the wiring ...........
then realised it was petrol dam fuel level sensor seems to be leaking
on the upside the hesitance in revs and odd cough seems to have stopped for now anyway :upyeah:

  4. I'm not sure whether it's the same as the 900SSie, but you want to look carefully to work out where the fuel leak is. It could be the fuel level sensor, especially if the plastic nut which holds it in has been overtightened; I believe they crack easily. There's a sealing ring too, and when I rebuilt my tank it seemed in good condition so I simply smeared both sides with a tiny amount of silicone sealer.

I seem to remember seeing something on another forum about possible metal replacement options for the plastic nut.

More problematic is any cracking under the tank hinge; it's spot-welded onto the base of the tank, and you will have noticed that there is no rubber mounting.

  5. pretty sure its the fuel level sensor but will have to check tank for cracks ......... bah
but fuel was running down wires into the connector on the loom for the sensor

don't you just love Italian bikes lol

  6. Boom!

PS.....The large nut to replace the plastic one was mentioned on the Ducati.ms website...........someone in the States got them made in aluminium.....

....what a pity someone here can't turn a few up.....

    AL

  7. yep your right there al boom
well at least it will keep me nads warm lol
checked it today and its dry as a bone hmm

  8. Quick question, the single seat did you buy that from the fairing suppliers? Have a fairing on order as I liked the look of yours. Changing the top yoke on my 900ssie and fitting higher bars having one made by topyokes. Been interesting watching your progress too, yours is looking good... Nice one

  9. cheers bud single seat cover was on the bike when I bought it
there was a single seat cover the same as on ebay not long back is was I good nick
    well in the pics lol
it had white number squares on
it was relisted a couple of times believe seller wanted £200 (cough)

yep higher bars I must be getting old
just looking into getting fuel filter changed as getting coughing and spluttering a bit

    yep ducati for fixing
    pushbike for riding lol

  10. The fuel filter can be easily missed as it's such a pig to change, that's why a lot of home mechanics overlook it. Mine also needs changing and I am sure like yours it will smooth out the running at lower revs

  11. hope it sorts it not sure what else to check easily for all I know it could be a sensor or something
if it was carbs I would have thought it was water in the fuel
    ahh well keep chipping away

  12. I can't comment on the benefits of changing the fuel filter because I changed mine when I had the tank apart for other reasons (because the filter is such a pig to change!). I don't know what the Ducati over-the-counter price is but I bought a BMW K100 OEM one having read somewhere (no doubt it's on this forum somewhere already) that it is exactly the same unit (made by Mahle). MIne came from here: Moto-bins - BMW Spare Parts and Accessories for Motorcycles - Index

I'd be interested to know what the red rattle-cans were for the fairing job - I'm rather tempted by the cut-down look of it.

  13. ahh the red paint well had it colour matched to the front mudguard at a local paint supplier
think there is three shades of red on the bike now lol
could only get a good match in a water based paint though
colour code on can is [std] (hy duc 48) red 848
    whatever that all means lol
cost me about £12 for a 100ml can

  14. Johnboy,
If you ever take off your single seat could you take some pictures of how it mounts and what it looks like from the rear. Looking at getting one for mine pretty soon from e-bay ... and I will probably have to make something up to mount it so any help would be appreciated.
Have now got my risers and new top yoke on so if get any spare money after christmas I'm looking at getting a top fairing the same as you have...... then all I need is some paint and a longer speedo cable and I may get to ride it next year.

  15. hi dak66 the single seat is just a cover over the original seat and fixes in place of the original rear panels
it uses 2 screw fixings on the side of the cover

    007.jpg

pic shows rear panel off and the full seat fits underneath
at the minute mine is bits again as fuel level sensor has been leaking
so doing fuel filter at same time just got new sensor and filter yesterday now just need to get time and somewhere warm to work on it :upyeah:

Good luck with sorting out the leak, hope it all goes to plan. Here's mine so far DSC_0069.jpg P1010690.jpg
