  1. Its a shame one was nicked, they should have their hands cut off,its is a real worry for me, hard to replace one now, I saved mine from being broken 4 years ago, hope to take for its first MOT in 10 years next month, see what needs doing over the winter ready for next year. Keeps us up to date on the resto, may be good to try and have a meet up of the odd dukes as they were called on the old site.:upyeah:

  2. just noticed tonight right side fairing has been repainted a different shade bollox, sorted a pile of bits to go for blasting.

  3. Also, just looking at your pics again, I think that the cans should be black, painted steel, with an aluminium wrapper? I think that someone has changed yours at some stage.

The other reason that you can't just bolt a dry clutch on from a 900ss is that there's no space for the clutch pushrod to go through the crank cases, and no provision to put the clutch slave cylinder on the left side of the bike.

  4. correct on the cans they are BOS race cans,i have a few ideas on the clutch,i will no better when I get it stripped.....fairing bracket bent and snapped.....studs have pulled out of the clock surround.

  5. I'm so looking toward to taking mine to bits now, if you look closely at mine you'll see the fairings have the gold lettering on, at some point they've been changed, so mins could have had full fairing on when new.

  6. Have a look at mine in half faired form............you can see where the full fairing fixing points are.........there is a black circular plug in the frame lug and the lower stabiliser bars are still fitted........(because I reckon they will break if I try to get them out!).

  7. very tidy..i do prefare it with the half fairing.....classic,i have had a go at the carbs today with good results I found mr muscle oven cleaner works a tread cleaning the crud out...acetone also works well 20131024_170044_zps3ea6cbd4.jpg I put a few pieces in the vapour blaster at work it brings the alloy back to new looking 20131024_170000_zps5bfe5c36.jpg 20131024_170017_zps6fa799b1.jpg the engine need a serious clean engine.jpg

  8. Oven cleaner eats anodising.................and once its through that, it eats aluminium............

  9. So dose traffic film remover as I found out with some remote control car parts that were purple and are now silver!!

  10. well there is no anodising on the carbs and they are not eaten away so jobs done they will get vapour blasted tomorow to finish them off,i would think if the cleaner is left on too long then it would cause sum damage but when doing sumthing like this you would allways test on a similar material.

  11. The wheel adjusters are seized into the alloy swingarm surprise surprise they will need some heat on them 20131025_211510_zpsac9bec7b.jpg any ideas wot make the rearsets are?

  12. Two hours to get the filler cap off the tank, one of the grub screws rounded off luckily I got a few turns before it rounded,a further 1/2 hour trying to get the base out the tank,20 years of corrosion I suppose. 20131030_212812_zps9232beaa.jpg
The paintwork is still good but the inside is as to be expected 20131031_210639_zps9d59d043.jpg

  13. Im a fan of the 3 stage POR 15 kits. It will sort out that corrosion properly.

They look like early Ducati Performance ones to me, I have some on my carby SS. The levers are very slightly different but everything else is identical. They're really good :upyeah: and very adjustable. Are the hangers anodised or have they been sprayed ?

    Ian.

yes the hangers and pegs are anodised and in good condition,i don't think they have had much use,i was going to sell them and go back to std but they are nice.

  16. They're worth a few quid ; ) but I'd keep em, so much better riding position than std...
Nice rebuild, keep the updates coming.
