I bought a fabia vrs 12 months back. Been driving for 25 years without a claim or as much as a speeding ticket and was quoted £600 to insure it. I put it in my girlfriends name who had a fiesta at the time and it came back at £200 fully comp with me as a named driver!!! Its an absolute farce. They have now banned the cheaper female insurance, which actually means they will now pay the same as men, no chance of the insurance companies meeting half way! I have honestly contemplated riding the ducati without insurance. In the local rag the scum of the town are usually fined about £00 if caught with no insurance! What I am actually paying for is the vast amount of insurance fraud which goes on all around north manchester mainly by a certain section of the community. Makes my blood boil.
I'll try calling the lowest couple to see what they're saying. There seems to be a big variation in prices.
i think mce are saying thet they will insure any modifications at no extra cost and 15 months for the price of twelve......maybe i was dreaming this?//????//?
When doing compare the market when the results come up, go to the "more details" bit at the right hand side, you get a ref number, then just phone them with that ref number(claim your free meerkat!) was with swinton last yr but when my renawal came through last week it had went up £200!! Did a compare the market and got it for £290 fc from mce
I'm with MCE, 31 yo, 8 years no claims with 1098s, low risk area, garaged, mods declared termi, carbon and paintwork £280 FC £100 excess, give them a ring they alway seem to be able to do a deal nearest after them was £450
Wow that's cheap! I spoke to MCE earlier. I need to call back in a couple of weeks and they'll be able to do a deal he said... We'll see. I'll manage to sort something I'm sure. Thanks for all the replies.
I have just got a quote for an 848 through gocompare. best price 60odd quid tpft with swinton. im 40, 8 years ncb, 8 years continuous riding.managed to reduce that to 40 odd quid by going through Top CashBack Official Site - The UK's #1 CashBack Site . the insurance for my 999 was just £18 after discounts applied!im not joking!insurance is a postcode lottery, robbing gets!! good luck with getting a decent quote.
Wtf, my Zip50 scooter was 100 quid with 10 years ncb full licence for 24 years! 848 for 40 quid...lol where you live the moon! Admin fees are 30 quid! so your ins is a 10ner bargin! Get me some!
£61.17 was my quote with swinton,£74.20 with bennetts. Maybe it has something to do with my house being on an RAF base. The 24 hour armed guard might help a tad too! Mind you, even when i lived off base,my quotes have always been quite reasonable.
You could have a team of SAS surrounding your bike 24.7 but I'm still amazed at the quotes you've been given, I would consider the area I live to be pretty damn safe but I still reckon an 848 would cost me at least £200 FC all day long
yeah,im amazed at the quotes i get for it but i assure you they are genuine quotes. Fully Comp is just shy of £200 though. I would recommend everyone has a look at the Topcashback website though. i regularly save between £20 and £50 on most insurance quotes though. Better in your pocket than theirs!!
Definetly worth having a look. I have saved nearly £1k through this website on all sorts if things like broadband, utilities and mobile phones. They even pay you £1 for doing an insurance quote with gocompare and the like! Good luck with it!
Cheers for this tip!! I'll do a bit more tooling about online and make some calls in the next week or two then be ready to "buy" the insurance at the start of Feb. I have to wait until then as they won't quote more than 30 days ahead of the start date and I won't get the bike until 1st March. Gives me something to keep me busy while I scratch off the days on the calendar! Thanks! Andy
Watch it with the comparison sites. I used them to insure my new car last week and failed to get any of the best 5 quotes. When I went to the insurers sites they either then wouldn't quote for me, or had options that I had to take to be able to get the insurance, such as legal cover. My advice would be to use them as a guide, then haggle with insurers using those quotes. Matt
