i come here to moam and discuss, i genuinly love my 848. its so much more than i thought it would be, and i was in love beforehand, theres just like 1 or 2 things that if i cant find a way to fix its perfect
Generally speaking, I can do just over 1 hour before a petrol break. Normally I want a 10 minute break before another hour and a bit. Otherwise concentration starts to drop.
yeh sorry, being new to sportsbikes, ducatis, forums i know what works im just trying to perfect the whole experiance [emoji23] but the 848 if you want to see my praise. im 5''10 66kgs this bike is spot on perfect for me, its sooo comfortable to be on. i dont get any aches atall after 1hour rides (not done more than yet) my throttle hand aches at times but i think thats more my transition from sports tourer to superbike. the suspension mine has is all upgraded. but it handles the bumpy stuff brilliant and still gives me confidence on the corners. thats sound [emoji7] oh my its amazing to be on, and heads turn ALL THE TIME!(akropovic slip on) the bike has next to no weight, at least it feels that way, again confidence filling. yes, when i accelerate i slide front front to back of the seat which sucks a bit, but i think maybe im meant to be sat with my bum towards the back of the seat not the front? and mostly its because im soo skinny i guess. (30" waist) in my experiance, upright sitting position to sports, this bike helped me through
I got terrible mileage from my 848. I thought there was something wrong with it but the miles that I did get were exhilarating. On a track the bike was just unreal, loved it. Loved it on the road too. Never thought the power was lacking, occasionally cut out at the lights which I never got to the bottom of. 848 was my first Ducati and although it had minor niggles they were all part of its charm. I now have a 748 and an 899 and wouldn't change them for the world.
The 848 was my pinup bike. Got my ZX6R written off, shook the guys hand on the roundabout and thanked him for paying for my new Ducati. [emoji23] Insurance paid out and I went straight out to buy my 848. Wanted it so bad I rode away from the dealer's laughing in my lid. It had termi pipes and sounded awesome and attracted loads of attention. It was a few years ago and I was younger back then so I don't think I paid the mileage any attention, I just filled up when the light told me to. Didn't care about the low speed fuelling or the heavy clutch either as I was too busy ragging it everywhere. Now I'm older and a bit wiser, I do think about range but only because it momentarily stops the ride and enjoyment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
i guess im a daily rider, got winter and summer bike, weekends its very very liveable, but to go out everyday and fill up everyday i feel will become a pain. which would would be a shame as its a wonderful bike, like i dont see any bike being more perfect bah the range xD
yeh, these endurance tanks for the 848 might be the fix i need, has anyone on here fit one? does it change the tank position? rub on anything? any down sides other than cost to buy it?
Sounds like you're worrying about things that haven't happened yet. Not healthy that. The best advice I got was to give it at least 1k miles THEN start worrying about the niggles. I'd never even sat on one before I collected it. i commute on mine in fairer weather 30 miles each way. I have to fill it up one journey sooner on 848 than I do on winter bike. It's not a big deal. the real niggles for me were slippy seat and shite headlight. And trying to fill the radiator with coolant. That's a fun job first time around. Here's mine in touring mode, did 3 x 400mile days on this trip. Wouldn't have said no to a k1300s for the last day riding through freezing fog!
true, but if the bikes good i can change the seat ish, or get a better position, and hopfully change the tank to a 20l one
Either an SP (not sure about R) has a bigger one or there is a Jap company that makes them. About £1700 from memory...
