848 rear wheel sockets

  1. Sorry to piggyback on this thread but I've been wondering this too. Is this what I'd need for an 848 Corse?Search results for 46mm bi hex socket : Tooled-Up.com

Also, do I need anything else to let me remove the wheel? (I see a reference above to a 41mm that's all). I've not got the bike yet so don't know what it looks like but was planning to buy the likes of these things ahead of time so I have them in case I need them.

I'll need to figure out chain adjustment too as I've always had twin-sided swingarms... but what I've seen online makes it look dead easy. One more question though - do I need to loosen the axle nut (hence do I need the socket above) to adjust the chain? I expect I do. I'm really sorry if this is a schoolboy question but I can't picture how the 848 will differ from what I'm used to.

    Cheers!

  2. Andy, that socket will work fine and is all you need to get the rear wheel off. The 41mm socket is for the sprocket carrier and you don't need to remove that at all very often.
Chain adjustment is real easy. You don't need to loosen any wheel nuts, just the two bolts that clamp the hub in the swingarm. 10mm allen socket.

  3. Perfect!

    Thanks for this. :)

  4. Andy, welcome to the world on onesiders! Easy peasy to do the chain, no lining up, bit then you have to consider ride height..
