  2. Hello and Welcome. I have an 848 Streetfighter, can happily cover 300 miles in a day with no numb bum or achey wrist and back, seat is still standard stock not an after market comfey one.

  3. Thanks Cupid I am to test ride the SF as part of wish list.

  4. Had mine just over 2 yrs now has 12,000 miles on the clock. Let us know how you get on and what you decide to get. Happy new year.

  5. Hi and welcome
Love the look of your bike, very nice.
Can't agree with the need to change at 50 unless you are really in bits but I doubt that.
I did a lot of soul searching last year after crashing my beloved 1198 and really looked seriously at the Diavel but came to me senses and bought an 899.
Age is no barrier, fitness can be a limitation, if you are overweight you can lose it! What you don't lose is the need for the thrill of the sportsbike and I love riding any type but when you get to the roads you love the Diavel will not do it time after time. Have a test ride and you will grin from ear to ear but sorry if you are a sportsbike rider then get yourself an 899. And here endeth the lesson.

  6. Thanks Dukeman, appreciate your frankness the 899 would be first choice but I need to get pressure of left shoulder which was all replaced after a track day spill due to the over exuberance of a rider who went underneath me into a bend where only a rizla would not have fit!!! I will try them out as I have only ever had sports bikes and moving to a sit up type cruiser is still a hard sell in my own head. Happy new year

  7. I had the 899 and still felt the street fighter was gruntier, if you want a sports bike but nothing to big 848 Evo is the better choice IMHO, I still have my 848 Streetfighter, the bars are angled down slightly and I have tipped mine forward a bit so your not upright like a bandit or street triple, has more of a race position feel to it and boy it shifts and is a lot of fun to ride.
Looking to get it remapped in 2015 so should get a few more ponies out of it.

  8. Happy New year to you also. You sound similar to me as I'm currently nursing a broken shoulder after my accident. The only thing I wouldn't be able to do as effectively as I like is track riding right now.

Some track riders are b**gers for that and it does tend to get me looking in garages after the session!

You also have to consider what type of riding you like doing. My general perception of sports bike riding is simply like the old style cafe racers, where you hop from one place to another. Usually punctuated by those that partake of the smoking and I'm limited by the bladder range! All in all very little problems with a 60-70 mile jaunt if indeed it is that far. I also love a road trip but then you still have to refuel. I am a great believer in once I cant do something than it is time to move on. Right now that is not the time. BTW I'm 57.

Good luck with test rides and soul searching and I'm sure you will arrive at the correct solution for yourself.
