if i did the wife must never find out. not because shes uncharitable just been lied to already.
I thought i had said i'd take a punt but cannot find a reply from me so i will say that i will take 3 if this goes ahead. perhaps i didn't hit "post reply"
I'll take 2 - tried to post earlier in the week but kept getting "server error". Maybe that's why there's some slow down, so see what the weekend brings? Once the donation page is live I will spread the word to biking friends so hopefully there will be more purchasers. I don't want to do it now as I want to tell them, then watch over their shoulder making sure they buy straight away! Hopefully there will be a significant "top up" after go live as this is a good cause. Good luck.
Thanks folks…. We do need to get to around £3k in pledges before making the "just giving" page live. Then, once this is open we can try to get as much publicity for the venture as we can. We pretty much got to £1500 over last weekend and so hoping we can get to £3000 by the end of this one. If we get £3k by Monday in pledges, then donation page live for three weeks (try to get publicity for this), and draw number following week (representative from the charity) handing over the bike to it's new owner. Simples….lol.
Okay folks…..time to throw the towel in. I want to thank everyone who supported this; there has be some very generous support and your comments, both privately and publicly have been well received. Ultimately, it was always going to be a tall order to raise money this way. I am sorry if there are any of you that feel I have wasted your time, I've always had best intentions at heart. Thanks pingping & TT600 for your help, Matt & Rob for at least letting me "have a go" and Tim & debbie at Ducati UK for their help and advice….Tom & Nick, at Snell's, too. Thanks again...
Have you considered starting it on Ebay at £4000 or even the next Bonham's auction - they may publicize if it's for charity in their pre show adverts and auction brochure and I'm sure the magazines will be interested in promoting if you get something arranged?
Its a shame for sure.. For the obvious selfish reason that for a few quid I stood a chance of winning a beautiful machine, But more for the fact that is such a generous gesture that we could have all played a part in (albeit a bit part!) for little more than a few pints.. Credit to you Vaio... I'll be making a donation regardless ..
