go do css, do levels one to three with plenty of track time between levels to put into practice what you are learning.
Tbh i dont get hung up about being fast,i just go out to enjoy myself and dont take it to seriously, would love to do a euro event at some point.CSS is good in theory but not impressed with there prices and thought there running of the Ducati days was how shall i put it,shit.
Ive kinda skimmed through this thread and i would say from personal experience ive learned quite a bit....forgetting about what ive ended up with but the process... Sold my hyper and wanted a supernaked....coming from a ducati i was wanting an sf1098... Read all the reviews....on paper the s1000r was the one....everything pointed that way... Had a test ride.....couldnt have been more under whelmed....and to top it off when i pulled up at home my son took one look and said it looked rubbish....the first time in 25 years of riding i handed back the keys and thought...well, nothing.... Thats not to say it was rubbish, it was a brilliant bike....i just didnt "connect" with it....still cant explain why.. Sat on a z1000 in the kawk showroom and instantly thought....yep this is for me! Didnt even need a test drive....i live in bristol and bought one on the otherside of kent. Every review Said the zed had suspension that was overly hard.....i rode home....4 1/2 hours in the seat with a 20 minute break...beautifully comfortable..... So, personally, for me, go with your gut feeling, it looks like you want the 1299! From what i can see...
My opinion is that whatever you buy you will adapt to it, I love my 1199, I find it easy to use on the road, it can be very savage but that really depends on how much you twist the throttle, don't forget you are in control. Recently I have been able to ride the 1199 back to back with my 848 Evo. They are both very good bikes to ride, what I have noticed though is that the 1199 looks slimmer but the when riding the 848 the bars feel closer together more tucked in riding position though the bike looks wider. First thing is have suspension sorted to your weight, static and rider sag sorted life should then be easier. I like the idea of the adaptive suspension but do we really need it ? I have ridden on and off for 38yrs and as yet never had a bike with adaptive suspension and so far have never had a problem once suspension has been set up for my weight.
Yep....id agree with CS....if the 1299 is what you want...youll adapt to it.....as for me....i had the chance of the full electronics package of the s1000r but went for the absolute opposite....ironically while riding home on the zed i had to go on and come off different sections of motorway (big sweeping left and right handers...) and found that it handled really well despite having knackered, squared off tyres...!
